Historia
After years of relentlessly racing up the professional ladder, Jennifer Romolini reached the kind of success many crave: a high-profile, C-suite dream job, a book well-received enough that reporters wanted to know the secrets to her success, and a gig traveling around the country giving speeches on “making it.” She had a handsome and clever husband, a precocious child. But beneath this polished surface was a powder keg of unresolved trauma and chronic overwork. It was all about to blow.

Compelling memoir leading to powerful conclusions
Revisado: 01-10-25
Jen’s story is both poignant and relatable. She has grit and stamina and evolves to really question the value of the perception she worked so hard to build. Some books taper off at the end, Ambition Monster is riveting to the last word of the epilogue.

Historia
Told in luminous, perceptive prose, The Last Fire Season is a deeply incisive inquiry into what it really means—now—to live in relationship to the elements of the natural world. When Manjula Martin moved from the city to the woods of Northern California, she wanted to be closer to the wilderness that she had loved as a child. She was also seeking refuge from a health crisis that left her with chronic pain, and found a sense of healing through tending her garden beneath the redwoods of Sonoma County.

Utterly riveting. A must read.

Her use of words, the juxtaposition of nature and history and her relationships make it utterly riveting. The botanical expertise with her father added a level of insight that is unexpected and remarkable. I highly recommend this book. A must read.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Great. Just so good.
Revisado: 02-01-23
Harry is an impressive memoirist and shares his story with authenticity and grit. What the British press — and King Charles did to him is unconscionable. While some of his ire is also targeted to William, I think he too Carrie’s the scars of their mothers death and being the target of British press. The entire ROTA a should be banned. Harry and Meghan bravely chose to save themselves. Good for them.
