Dogs and cats make it a win for me.
Revisado: 07-29-19
I received this book for free and agreed to leave an honest review. Did I think it was the best written story ever? No. Would I have enjoyed it as much if it didn't feature dogs and cats? No. But it did, so I enjoyed listening to it. Initially, I was a bit turned off by the main character's expressed dislike of dogs but she came around and won me over. I really enjoyed the 2 storylines that carried over some of the same characters (and pets). I found the pregnant character a but unbelievable - looking for a hot boyfriend while pregnant and pretending a cat got caught in the tree to have an excuse to call him (he's a fireman), but overall the storyline was an entertaining one.

Revisado: 04-02-19
I received this audio book in exchange for an honest review. I love cozy mysteries and I love dogs. This series was a little lackluster for me though. Part of it was that I didn't love the narration but for mysteries that are headlined as dog park mysteries, I expected a little bit more dog storyline. The characters had dogs but other than that, they didn't play much of a role. Also, well into book 3, I really wasn't that in love with the characters either - good or bad. I wasn't really routing for anyone. Like a good Netflix marathon, I want a series that when it ends, I miss it, and for me this series didn't cut it.

This is the third book in the series and I am enjoying the easy listening of these books. I really like the main character Fred, her friend Kate, and Fred's Corgi Watson. The narration is spot on, too. Do I sense a love triangle in the works? If so, I'm routing for the park ranger! I was given a complimentary copy of this book in the hopes that I would leave a review.

I didn't love it or hate it.
Revisado: 10-27-18
I received this book for free for an honest review. I purchased the first book because I love a good series and books that involve dogs in the storyline and wanted to start in order. The premise of the story is a good one but I thought it was lacking something. The book could have used a little more editing perhaps as I found some of the wording redundant and the narration just downright boring at times as I listened. I don't know think I'll spend another credit on the 3rd book although I did enjoy Sherlock and Watson!
ETA: So I did end up listening to book 3 and found that the series is growing on me.

Revisado: 08-20-18
I listened to this book right on the heels of the first and enjoyed it just as much. Loved the setting, plot and the characters - especially Watson. I want to read the next in the series but sadly Audible only has the first two. I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

First in a series, went right on to the next one.
Revisado: 08-19-18
This was the first in a series of a new cozy mystery to me. I flew through the first one and went right on to the second. I enjoyed the pace, the characters, the setting, and the fact that there was a dog featured in it. I mostly listen when I'm knitting or in the car and looked forward to returning to it whenever I could. I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. However, I would not have felt it a sacrifice to have spent a credit on this book as I found it a very enjoyable listen. I enjoyed how the characters interacted and how the annoying ones received their comeuppance in a timely fashion. I like audio books that are entertaining and have happy endings and this one fit the bill. Plus, the addition of a dog in the story line is always welcomed by me.

Historia
Cara Snow is newly divorced, stuck working for a jerky boss at a pet boutique, and dreading her soon-to-be-empty nest with only her beloved corgi for company. Worse still, her ex just got engaged. Doesn’t she deserve some romance, too? Or, at least a date for the Fur Ball. She’s always enjoyed the annual pet rescue gala, but this year her ex will be there with his fiancée. Meanwhile, Cara hasn’t met anyone — other than the irresistible dogs at the boutique’s adoption events. Cara is shocked when her wish to fall for a man as easily as she does for those mutts summons Vincent. His velour track suit, paunchy belly, and tough-guy accent don't exactly fit her childhood image of a fairy godfather. Not exactly on top of his game, he admits to being twenty-five years late.

Right up my alley!
Revisado: 04-17-18
If you could sum up Stray Magic in three words, what would they be?
Great dog fantasy.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Stray Magic?
When Lou became human and was so excited to tell his human how much he loved him.
What about Aisling Gray’s performance did you like?
Great complement to the story. It was never annoying.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not that extreme but I love dogs, non-serious stories, and happy endings so this was perfect.

Revisado: 03-13-18
What did you like best about Chocolate with a Side of Murder? What did you like least?
I like cozy mysteries. I liked the premise of this one. However, I found the main character to be annoying. I did not enjoy her hounding of all the suspects.
Would you be willing to try another book from Meredith Potts? Why or why not?
I don't think so. There are so many other more enjoyable cozy mystery series out there.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The pace was fine but I found some of the voices irritating like the voice of the main character's sister and grandmother.
Do you think Chocolate with a Side of Murder needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. As I found the main character unlikable, I wouldn't care to hear any more of her life story.
Any additional comments?
I received a free copy of this audiobook and agreed to leave a review. I'm sorry it couldn't be a more positive one.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, if I'm not enjoying a book, I generally will stop reading it. Too many books, too little time. This was book 9 in a series but the first one I have read so I suspect I may have been invested in the characters a little more if I had read the previous books. Also, I'm a sucker for any books that include dogs in the storyline. :-)
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I enjoy a good cozy mystery and a happy ending so I liked it.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes.
Was Passion, Poison & Puppy Dogs worth the listening time?
Yes, see response to first question above.
