Interesting Story!
Revisado: 04-29-21
This was an interesting story set during a dangerous and uncertain time. I liked learning more about what both the soldiers and their family back home went through at different times in the war. Abby grew in wisdom and confidence as the war went on, though sometimes she still seemed immature and naive. She also grew in her faith as she had to rely on God more when Jim went off to war. There was some romance and some suspense. The narrator was okay but I did have to listen at 2.25 speed as the normal speed felt too slow. You might enjoy this if you like historical fiction.

Interesting, if Frustrating Romance
Revisado: 07-16-20
This was an interesting story, if a bit slow, for my taste. I liked Andrew and how he had such a strong faith in God, yet I question why he almost married a woman who doesn't sound like she was a Christian. I also felt like he got involved too quickly with Clara as she had turned away from her faith years ago. I was annoyed that Andrew and Clara both were considering their exes again, especially after what they each had done to them. I also felt like Clara somewhat excuses herself for the situation with her ex before even though she knew it was wrong. I did like the discussions about their faith and that they prayed and attended church. I thought the mystery of the letter was intriguing and also what she ended up finding out. There was some sweet romance. There's a strong theme of not judging and forgiving yourself and others. The narrator was fine as I listened to it on Audible though I did have to listen at 1.5 - 2.5 speed, otherwise way too slow. You might like it if you like stories about second chances, military or ballerinas.

Historia
Judging a chocolate-making competition for the women’s shelter’s annual fundraiser should be an easy, even pleasurable, assignment for Maise, new food critic for the Bloomingfield Daily Dispatch. Too bad just the smell of chocolate makes her stomach roil. By the time she reaches the last table, she hopes her face isn’t as green as her holiday sweater. But the tall, square-jawed man behind piles of fudge makes her want to linger, even savor the moment along with his chocolate-coffee-flavored confection.

Short and Sweet.
Revisado: 03-27-20
Cute story. Story is so short, however, that we don't really get to know the characters. Story is amusing with a hint of romance.

He was a handyman hired to clean and take care of the billionaire’s yacht. He was not the billionaire himself. But Thea doesn’t know that. She was a nanny, looking for some kids to love and guide. She wasn’t looking for a horde of scoundrels. Okay, they weren't so bad, but training them to be good, obedient children and use the gifts bestowed upon them was not going to be easy. Grunt is the actual billionaire - an elderly, gruff gentleman who is rather eccentric.

Relationship Too Shallow For My Taste
Revisado: 02-13-20
Relationship felt very shallow. It didn't seem like there was anything to it except physical attraction. I liked the faith element and gospel was presented. Kids were cute. Listened at double speed as normal speed was way too slow.

It's Ok.
Revisado: 01-24-20
Well, I guess I didn't read the description closely enough. I also thought this book would be cleaner than it was. It wasn't detailed but making out while being handsy isn't something I consider clean. I didn't like that they were both lying to each other. It was hard for me to like Emily as she seemed to only care about herself and especially treated her assistant badly. She seemed to change some near the end but it went on too long. She was also a workaholic. David seemed like a sweet guy who never even had a girlfriend and cared a lot about his grandmother, father and the family business. I wished for someone better for him than Emily and couldn't figure out what he saw in her, other than her looks. There was a bit of a twist at the end to the plan that was surprising. I listened to the audiobook at 2x the speed as it otherwise seemed too slow. I didn't find enough to like about this story so I can't recommend it.

Sweet Romance!
Revisado: 01-19-20
This was a sweet love story about Lana, a Christian who feels she was called to act, and Bryce, a billionaire who wants to be loved for himself, not his money. I didn't realize there was a romance sub-genre about billionaires and when I saw this clean, Christian audiobook available, I decided to give one a try. I liked both Lana and Bryce but Bryce's friend was a jerk and I couldn't figure out why he would still hang around him. Lana challenged him and didn't fall all over herself just because he was rich. He even started going to church again and I liked seeing the influence she had on him. There was a good spiritual message about putting God first and we hear her pastor speak more than once. There's a bit of a love triangle as Bryce's ex shows up and tries to interfere in their romance and even some danger. The narrator was fine; I listened to this at 1 1/2 speed as it felt too slow at the normal one. The dialogue was a bit formal. If you like romance, especially with billionaires, you might want to check it out.

Sweet Clean Romance!
Revisado: 12-09-19
I enjoyed this story set in the Regency time period. I liked Julia and felt for her in her insecurity, especially since she had such a gorgeous sister. It was nice to have a heroine who's not a size 2, though she was self-conscious about her weight. I loved that Phillip encouraged her to eat sweets; that was a cute scene. Phillip, too, was a wonderful character, honorable and caring, though a bit misguided in what he thought was best. I loved that he rescued a kitten and kept it; that was so sweet! There were a few cute moments between Phillip and Julia but I did wish for a bit more to show how they felt. I had to listen to the book at 1.5 speed as normal speed felt way too slow. The narrator was okay; I've listened to others with British accents I've liked better. This was a clean read. There was mention of God but it's not meant to be a Christian story. If you like Regency stories, you'll probably like this one.
