Patty WHINED the entire book
Revisado: 10-19-24
I like James Patterson as an author, and I have enjoyed many many of his audiobooks. However, I’m about to return this title because I can’t stand, listening to the actress playing Patty whining the entire book. It’s distracting and not funny even though I know certain points of it were meant to be amusing.
I don’t feel like she was this whiny in the first book although I don’t feel that she played as much of a part in the first book…? I know it’s not the actresses fault, but this is the way the book is written, but together the lines and the acting are making me want to stop the book completely.

“THE END” CUTS OFF THE STORY
Revisado: 11-08-21
In a disconcerting end to a superbly written and narrated book, the author’s ending feeling quite emotional, the narration ends abruptly cutting off the last words of the book.
It was a terrible way to end the narration of this book and editing needs to change it!!!

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Really Great! Well acted, entertaining!
Revisado: 01-15-21
This is my first audible original. I was facing a great depression the next couple of days as I had just finished the last of a murder mystery series of 30 bucks. You know how you get into a funk and you just don’t want to read anything else after binging stories that you love? Well that was me. So I chose something in desperation, thinking that a quick five hour read while I did my chores and drove to work and back would be just the ticket, and it really truly was. It was really entertaining, drew me in right away, made me laugh without being cutesy and had some great plot twist to keep me interested and waiting for the next chapter I will certainly seek out other things that this author has written as well as the actors have spoken. Thanks audible!

Daphne hasn’t spoken one word to Drue in all this time - she doesn’t even hate-follow her ex-best friend on social media - so when Drue asks if she will be her maid-of-honor at the society wedding of the summer, Daphne is rightfully speechless.

Big departure for Jennifer Weiner
Revisado: 05-10-20
The writing was definitely up to par as per all of Jennifer’s other works, I enjoyed the story despite how much it was not at all what I expected it to be. However one thing that completely distracted from the story from for me was the performance by the narrator. Perhaps it’s due to colloquialisms, but I was distracted every time she said any words with double tees, for instance buttons, sounded like "buddond." It seems like she always pronounced "t's" as D’s. It was quite distracting to me. There were other words that she pronounce completely different to me for instance almond was pronounced Al- mond...Unfortunately this detracted from the entire performance for me although I did feel that she was quite talented in her ability to change characters and narrate the story.

Definitely not up to par with other Picoult novels
Revisado: 04-25-20
The plot lines were too predictable, and yet at times unbelievable.
I too had a difficult time with the songs, as well as many others who have reviewed.
The worst of the major issues for me, however, were all surrounding the timelines of the main characters, once a new timeline began after the divorce. The progression of therapeutic and intimate relationships, the sequential situations the characters are experiencing; the sheer amount and depth of emotional feelings surrounding the events take years, not months, to develop. When things were discussed in the book, I would have the sense of a depth of discussion that should have happened 3 years after the relationship began, not 3 months. It would have been more believable if Jodi had simply passed time in the everyday moving months and years, instead of only weeks and then 5 months from beginning to end, with the majority of the events happening in the second stage of the novel.
I won't go into details, but it was the biggest flaw for me and although I wanted to hear the full story, and finished the audible book, I couldn't get past the timeline.
The part of Zoe had very little emotional depth in her acting the part, in fact most characters had the exact same neutral inflection most of the time, or worse, a positive lilt with all verbalizations. Does not ring true, especially when angry or upset and using the same tonality. I did not like her spoken part.
Max's character also had some of the same. For me what was missing was the depth of emotion that was written but not conveyed through the spoken words of the characters. Anger, incredulity, fear, happiness, sadness, all were voiced the same. Doesn't happen in real life.
It left me wishing I had read the book myself, instead of listening to it.
