Great fantasy, with realistic relationships.
Revisado: 01-13-25
This is a fun story. Lots of fantasy aspects, that are well thought out, without belaboring the point with over detail. The trauma into relationship is also well done. Neither 'magically healed by a good dicking' nor stuck in an endless trauma loop that never seems to improve. Somewhere in between that works well. The healing is gradual, but there is healing. And it was cool to see how the MCs navigated those challenges and figured out how to manage them and still live their lives.
The secondary characters had depth and established personalities that they stayed true to. It never felt like they were there just because the author just needed someone to say/do something to move the story along.
The narrator did a great job. Lots of variation in character, but his voice stayed consistently pleasant to listen to. The MCs were distinctive from each other and everyone else, and realistically emotive too.
Is it my new favorite? No. But I enjoyed it a lot and I am looking forward to the next one in the series. Overall, a good listen. Especially for that price.

Some good stories, some not for me...
Revisado: 01-06-24
Some better than others but for me the stories and MCs were a it too jaded and hopeless. Their situations mostly seem to improve only when they are scrambling in desperation rather than any optimistic enthusiasm. They were for the most part well written and all were beautifully narrated, just a bit too much noir stoicism for me.

Hot romance with an interesting plot
Revisado: 11-24-23
Quite a well thought out story, Very well balanced, the emotional ups and downs are appropriate to the story with being too jarring or unrealistic. The romance wasn't hearts and flowers fluff. It was rougher and more intense, but I could clearly sense the love and caring the MCs had for each other. It did end a bit suddenly for my liking. The whole resolution portion of the story was like a cliff notes version. So even though I heard how it turned out I would have liked to hear more about how it happened... maybe in the next book...
The narrator was very good. Pleasant to listen to and quite skilled. The different characters had distinct voices and speech patterns so it was clear who was who.

Historia
Brian, an aimless slacker, works doubles at his shift job, forgets to clean his room and lays about with his friends Nik and Darby. He's been struggling to manage his transition to adulthood almost as much as his monthly transitions to a werewolf. Really, he is not great at the whole werewolf thing, and his recent murderous slip-ups have caught the attention of Tyler, a Millennial were-mentor determined to take the mythological world by storm.

Revisado: 06-09-23
I really enjoyed this book. The way the MC's experiences were portrayed felt real and expressed his struggles but all with a sort of dry, tongue-in-cheek wit that kept it from being too heavy. A lot happens, which is exciting, but I think lessened some of the impact of the emotional moments because just as the "aww" or "oh no" was taking hold we were past it. On that same note, even as the story arc concluded satisfactorily, it wasn't as "now you can see how everything will be better" as I would have liked... more "exciting revelation... THE END." Hopefully the author was foreshadowing for another book, not just leaving us with a hint of possible awesomeness and no details.

Historia
Trained to handle even the fiercest undead, Dallas Wilde took out a powerful necromancer without breaking a sweat. Okay, that's a lie—there was tons of sweat, but he was victorious all the same. Unfortunately, killing a necromancer comes with some repercussions. Broody, annoying, vampire repercussions and new abilities to resurrect the dead. Can Dallas navigate his blood-sucking bodyguard, new powers, feelings for his attractive client and still handle his contract in time to pay his very, very late rent—all while trying not to get super murdered in the process?

SEXY M/M Paranormal ROMANCE!
Revisado: 05-25-23
I liked this book a lot, as it is the type of book I enjoy. But just a HEADS UP to those new to this author.... while it is a fantasy, it is also a M/M romance. As in there is EXPLICIT sexual content involving 2 (or more) men together. While I happen to really enjoy that type of book, I know it's not for everyone. It was only because I am familiar with the author that I knew what to expect. Since NOTHING, not the category, the description, or even the single male narrator (who is awesome BTW), that indicates that this book not only includes M/M romance, but is quite explicit in doing so. So if that is your jam... and you are 18+, I absolutely recommend this book. But if that isn't for you, I recommend you look elsewhere :).
It would be unfortunate for such a great book to get bad reviews because it is not in the right category for its target audience!
On a side note... Maz Maddox, you might be my spirit animal... another awesome book!

Before the dungeons, before the dragons, there is the party.... Valeran is bored. Corbett is broke. Andreton and Donald are on the run and Dorian just wants to do what is right. Not the best recipe for a questing group but when you are driven by prophecy sometimes the mix is decided for you.

Really a well written and fun story.
Revisado: 10-03-22
A very fun and entertaining tale. An unlikely group of would-be heroes having to figure out a way to work together to deal with challenges and, mmm their own inner demons, so to speak. It has banter, wit and flawed characters that have to learn to accept each other. There are enough surprises to keep you guessing without getting complicated or confusing. With an amazing narrator to bring it all to life. (Honestly, I just finished the book andI had to scroll up to see if it was a man or woman narrator because she did such a fantastic job voicing both). Overall a really great book. This is my third time relistening and it is still a thrilling jaunt.

Great story
Revisado: 08-17-21
This story is very good. A bit lighter than the first, but no less exciting. It kept me mentally engaged without being over-stimulating or emotionally exhausting if that makes any sense. Blake does a great job narrating, the different voices are distinct and easy to differentiate between. His woman are a bit husky voiced, but still obviously women. It is no sacrifice, since it is likely a by-product of just how smooth and sexy his lower tones are. My ears approve.

Good story, very interesting
Revisado: 08-09-21
I really enjoyed the story, the only problem is the main characters are almost too grim. The only emotions that really come across are cynical or angry for the MC, stoic or concerned from his brother. The parts of the story where they could get excited, or even should be so, they aren't. Some relief from the gravity would have made a nice counterpoint. Otherwise, the story is interesting and the world building is great. Very clear imagery, without being too wordy about it.
The narrator is great, I love how he does the wolfy and monsterous voices.

“Before I can begin my tale, you need to know about the king's panties.” So begins the epic adventure of 14-year-old Nigel, digger of latrines, shoveler of poop, and the single greatest threat to all the humans, elves, and halflings of Esteria. Nigel needs to escape from military school. Who can blame him? After all, the king just declared war on the gorks, and he's pretty sure his latrine-digging skills aren't going to be much good on the front lines.
