Historia
Paul Copeland, a New Jersey county prosecutor, is still grieving the loss of his sister twenty years ago - the night she walked into the woods, never to be seen again. But now, a homicide victim is found with evidence linking him to the disappearance. The victim could be the boy who vanished along with Paul's sister. And, as hope rises that his sister could still be alive, dangerous secrets from his family's past threaten to tear apart everything Paul has been trying to hold together....

Interesting mystery
Revisado: 09-11-16
Overall I liked the story. It kept me guessing until the last third or so, when the mysteries became fairly easy to guess. I wasn't a fan of how every woman was drop dead gorgeous, or of some of the off topic philosophizing that bogged down the story.

Historia
Audiences often ask Bill Harley if his stories are true. The answer is both "yes" and "no." While Harley does recall vividly the sights and scents of the lunchroom, he says "Mrs. Lunchroom Lady" is a story about names. Meanwhile, "Weezie" is a folktale many will recognize. It's based on a traditional tale found in many cultures - in Mexico it's called "The Day It Snowed Tortillas."

My kids loved this
Revisado: 09-09-16
The author/narrator was very entertaining. I wasn't a huge fan of how he portrayed the lunch lady though. It seemed mean spirited to make fun of her arm flab. My kids also won't stop singing "moon pies, moon pies" in their most annoying voices. We will listen to more from this author.

Historia
When siblings Dan and Hayley Daley inherit their late grandmother's derelict Victorian farmhouse, it seems like a dream come true. All they have to do is fix the place up and sell it for a tidy profit! Except - as anyone who has renovated an old house knows - things are never that easy. The walls are rapidly crumbling around them, the architect is a certified lunatic, the budget is spiraling...and then there's the disturbingly intelligent cow to worry about.

Nothing really happens, and nothing is very funny
Revisado: 07-14-16
I don't mind a fluffy, light hearted story. But this one, while fluffy, was utterly uncompelling. I didn't care about a single character, I didn't find it very amusing, nor was it interesting. At one point I stopped listening to this story for a couple of weeks. During those weeks I didn't once wonder how things would turn out or what would befall the characters. And the ending. Although I saw it coming a mile away, the condescending to women "fairytale" ending made me roll my eyes so hard I could see the back of my head. There was no plot development that made the highlighted romance at all plausible. Apparently proximity but no conversation or regular interaction is all that is required for people to fall in love.

My two year old loves this

Driving four kids around town is a lot easier if the toddler is entertained. She loves it, and the 8 year old and six year olds like it too.

Another Manic Pixie Dream Girl Story
Revisado: 06-18-16
It was just ok. The excessive use of profanity was off putting, since I like to listen around the house and I have young children. The story was OK, but the main character never did anything. Life just happened to him. He never becomes proactive about any problems that face him. Luckily, a manic pixie dream girl comes along to fix his life. But at the end he remains as passive and unimpressive as ever.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan, but for Cath, being a fan is her life - and she's really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow Series when they were just kids; it's what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere. Cath's sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can't let go.

Gets a bit tedious
Revisado: 04-20-16
The love story was cute--until it wasn't. Once the characters were together, there were way too many tedious scenes with them adjusting to dating life. I also got bored with all the teenage makeout scenes. And with the fan fiction stories.
I also found myself rolling my eyes at the main character's crippling anxiety, which guides the story. Don't people believe in therapy anymore? No fewer than three of the characters (all from the same family) deal with issues that therapy and medication would help. They all openly scoff at such measures. Overall, there was a pretty negative presentation treatment for various mental illnesses, which I found very frustrating.

This story was well written, but it didn't wow me. Ultimately I think it will be pretty forgettable.

Amateurish Writing, Mediocre Story
Revisado: 03-09-16
I just couldn't get past the writing style of this author. It often felt like a YA book-- a BAD YA book. Many of the characters were cliches at best, with no nuance at all, such as the parents of one of the protagonists and the asylum doctor. I am also bothered by the highly unconvincing reason that the mother of the other protagonist committed a crime. Even worse, I feel like this book stigmatized mental illness. One character is worried about being crazy like her mother, and the other is the only special sane person in a sea of lunatics.

Lots of Fun
Revisado: 03-20-15
A fun, engaging story with a unique premise. Occasionally gets bogged down with too many pop culture details that derail the story. Would highly recommend.
