A Star of Darkness is an enchanting blend of fantasy, intrigue, and deep emotion. The worldbuilding is immersive, and the characters are compelling, each carrying layers of complexity that kept me engaged. The pacing was a bit slow at times, but the rich descriptions and tension-filled moments made up for it. The emotional depth of the story, especially towards the end, caught me off guard—I wasn’t expecting to get teary-eyed, but here we are. A beautifully written tale with a satisfying conclusion, even if it left me wanting just a little more. Definitely worth the read!

Historia
At first glance, the death of media mogul “Big Bill” Argosy appears to be suicide. But his widow, Laila, thinks otherwise. Because Big Bill made enemies - lots of them. And he’d rather fight to the death than take his own life. When the authorities refuse to investigate, Laila turns to the one person who can see connections in the universe where others can’t: Zip Ono, a young private investigator - and practicing Buddhist. Zip quickly learns that there’s no shortage of suspects who might very well want Argosy dead.

An enjoyable read :)

It's a unique mystery novel that combines Buddhism with detective work. The book features an original character and an engaging plot, but suffers from slow pacing and stilted dialogue. Overall, it's a decent read for those interested in both Buddhism and detective fiction.

Historia
When Runnel leaves his mountain valley to head for the great city of the water mages, he has no idea of his own magical talents. But he soon finds that without meaning to, he complicates and then endangers the lives of everyone he comes to know and care about. For when it comes to magic, there are rules and laws, and the untrained mage-to-be must be careful not to tap into deep forces and ancient enmities. Otherwise, other people might end up paying the price for his mistakes.

Short but beautiful!

My only complaint with this is that it wasn't longer! With that being said, the story was fun. I loved the magic and lore. It was so beautifully elemental!!

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

It was so hard to get through the beginning of this book..... But I'm so glad I stuck with it. It ended up being so full of hope. It was everything I didn't even know I needed right now! 10/10, would recommend!!!
