narrator should NEVER do girls' voices!
Revisado: 09-07-24
That bad thing is, the narrator did a phenomenal job on every voice EXCEPT the girls! That sticky sweet, nasal-y voice she put on was too much. Good story, though.

Historia
Margot and James are broken up—for good this time. James made sure of it when he dropped the bomb on Margot: that he doesn’t want kids, ever. Then, on the biggest morning of his life, James—an ambitious lawyer at a high-powered firm—wakes up pregnant. He realizes with dread that he is part of a recent epidemic of men suddenly and inexplicably becoming pregnant. His condition obvious to the higher-ups, James is denied the promotion he was expecting, sending him reeling.

Historia
World War II continues, and Ada and her brother, Jamie, are living with their loving legal guardian, Susan, in a borrowed cottage on the estate of the formidable Lady Thorton - along with Lady Thorton herself and her daughter. Life in the crowded cottage is tense enough, and then, quite suddenly, Ruth, a Jewish girl from Germany, moves in. A German? The occupants of the house are horrified. But other impacts of the war become far more frightening. As death creeps closer to their door, life and morality during wartime grow more complex.

Ada needs a swift kick in the pants!
Revisado: 11-20-23
i was hoping that the raggedy ingrate would have become more kind and appreciative by this book. Not thus far. i grew up abused and neglected, and when ANYONE showed kindness, I was ridiculously grateful and kind. Still am. I am so over the coddling of kids these days. Excuses are made for EVERYTHING. If you like whiny, sniveling, ungrateful, brats, this is the book for you! Enjoy. Can't finish. Getting my credit back!

Woody Bookman hasn’t spoken a word in his eleven years of life. Not when his father died in a freak accident. Not when his mother, Megan, tells him she loves him. For Megan, keeping her boy safe and happy is what matters. But Woody believes a monstrous evil was behind his father’s death and now threatens him and his mother. And he’s not alone in his thoughts. An ally unknown to him is listening.

I LOVE CAROLINE LEE!!
Revisado: 10-05-23
I've read this and others from Kate Morton and continue to come back after a couple of years to enjoy again. I have learned (the hard way) that the narrator can ruin what is otherwise an amazing experience in a book. I have "read" many titles from searching favorite narrators. Caroline Lee is STELLAR.
Now, Kate Morton... such a powerful storyteller! All of her books are very impressive, but my favorite by far is The Forgotten Garden. Extraordinary! This one is a close second. PLEASE TRY IT!!

Historia
Twenty-five years ago, Maggie Holt and her parents, Ewan and Jess, moved into Baneberry Hall, a rambling Victorian estate in the Vermont woods. Three weeks later they fled in the dead of night, an ordeal Ewan later recounted in a nonfiction book called House of Horrors. His horror memoir of ghostly happenings and encounters with malevolent spirits became a worldwide phenomenon, rivaling The Amityville Horror in popularity — and skepticism.

Historia
Welcome to Babylon, a typical sleepy Alabama small town, where years earlier the Larkin family suffered a terrible tragedy. Now they are about to endure another: 14-year-old Margaret Larkin will be robbed of her innocence and her life by a killer who is beyond the reach of the law. But something strange is happening in Babylon: traffic lights flash an eerie blue, a ghostly hand slithers from the drain of a kitchen sink, graves erupt from the local cemetery in an implacable march of terror.

Historia
Eva never really wanted to be a mother - and certainly not the mother of a boy who ends up murdering seven of his fellow high school students, a cafeteria worker, and a much-adored teacher who tried to befriend him, all two days before his 16th birthday. Now, two years later, it is time for her to come to terms with marriage, career, family, parenthood, and Kevin’s horrific rampage, in a series of startlingly direct correspondences with her estranged husband, Franklin.

I HATE FRANKLIN!!!
Revisado: 09-10-23
To me, the mom was NOT the problem! That idiot, simpering poon excuse as a "dad" was. Someone should have beat the brakes off that raggedy, manipulative, psychopath, Kevin! I am a conservative, and Franklin was absolutely NOT a MAN. Most certainly not a conservative one. Can do this no longer. over halfway through, enough is enough.

Historia
The First Book of David is a unique novel which brings to life one of the greatest men who ever lived - David the King of Israel. It movingly takes one back in time to see the mighty man and his world through the eyes of his contemporaries, some of which are Samuel, Abner, Michal, Abishai, Abiathar, and even Goliath's armor bearer. It answers why David is so endearingly referred to as "a man after God's own heart". Though we know the story, The First Book of David is hard to put down.

Historia
Booker continues the story he began in his earlier The First Book of David, retelling the life of one of the Bible's most famous and storied figures, King David, who began his life as a humble shepherd boy, shot to fame as the slayer of the Philistine giant Goliath, and eventually entered the court of savage-tempered King Saul. The Second Book of David takes up the story of David at the height of his kingly power, and in a winning formula Booker uses here again, that story is told not from an omniscient viewpoint or from David's own but rather from viewpoints of the people in David's life - the famous Bathsheba, the Prophet Nathan, King Saul's concubine Rizpah and others.

What a Series!
Revisado: 06-11-23
I was riveted from the start of Book 1 until the last word of Book 2! It appears that our precious, amazingly anointed Bishop Booker is as great a storyteller as a preacher/teacher of the Word of God and His marvelous truth!! I would LOVE to have Bishop Booker write about other patriarchs of the Old Testament! But alas, he is busy at home in Rialto, CA, and being invited all over the USA and the world to preach like not many can. Luckily, He'll be preaching again this year in my home church in Durham, NC, where we are privileged to have the greatest pastor ever, Pastor Nathaniel Urshan! Can't wait! It truly is always a huge blessing to have Bishop Booker. I suggest you check out all of his other books on Audible!
