surprise, surprise
Revisado: 09-27-22
Almost like reading 2 books in 1. I'll admit that it started off slow, however there are loose ends that you want answers for. When those loose ends get those answers, you can then say "ok, now I see”

This was a fun read. if it wasn't for the narrator Stephen Fry, I don't think I would have gotten through this book. Well done.

Historia
When George Washington was elected president, he reluctantly left behind his beloved Mount Vernon to serve in Philadelphia, the temporary seat of the nation's capital. In setting up his household, he took Tobias Lear, his celebrated secretary, and eight slaves, including Ona Judge, about which little has been written. As he grew accustomed to Northern ways, there was one change he couldn't get his arms around: Pennsylvania law required enslaved people be set free after six months of residency in the state. Washington decided to circumvent the law.

Nice History Lesson
Revisado: 10-23-17
Even George had flaws. This part of America's history has been kept hushed. It's been ignored long enough. It is a part of our country's shameful past. If we are not careful history may repeat itself. I am ashamed of the government we have in control now. We should be far from this, but are we? Sadly, I think not.

Historia
It's 1953 in Red-baiting, blacklisting Los Angeles, a moral tar pit ready to swallow Easy Rawlins. Easy is out of "the hurting business" and into the housing (and favor) business when a racist IRS agent nails him for tax evasion. Special Agent Darryl T. Craxton, FBI, offers to bail him out if he agrees to infiltrate the First American Baptist Church and spy on alleged communist organizer Chaim Wenzler. That's when the murders begin....

Smooth
Revisado: 12-20-16
Very well paced. The story was like I was a friend listening to what was going on in the neighborhood. The narrator is very good. I can listen to him all day. I also love the fact that the story takes place in the 50's. I wonder when Hollywood is going to make another Easy Rawlins movie. Long overdue.
