Found Wanting
Revisado: 02-25-25
Although I probably should have followed the implicit advice at the beginning of the book—to read it after finishing the series—I went ahead and read The Foundling hoping it might be a good prequel offering more context.
Having been exposed to The Book of Three many years ago, with it being read to me by my grandfather, I found it difficult to connect with. Without the context of the entire series, the characters and story structure felt repetitive. The short length made it challenging to form any deep connections, and the narration style seemed more suited for a younger audience. The nostalgia factor wasn’t a draw for me, but perhaps it would resonate more with younger readers or those more familiar with the series. That said, I’m hopeful that the rest of the series will provide the depth and connection I’m looking for.

Historia
The year was 1917. As a war raged across the world, young American women flocked to work, painting watches, clocks, and military dials with a special luminous substance made from radium. It was a fun job, lucrative and glamorous - the girls themselves shone brightly in the dark, covered head to toe in the dust from the paint. They were the radium girls. As the years passed, the women began to suffer from mysterious and crippling illnesses.

Great story.
Revisado: 03-25-23
I didn’t expect to enjoy such a tragic story but the way the events were presented made the listen very enjoyable and emotional. I usually don’t read history or biographies but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The narrator gave a wonderful performance as well.

Great information with poor narration
Revisado: 02-08-23
I would have no problem with this book, other than the fact that it is hard to tell when the narrator is shifting from quotations. This book is heavy with quotes and anecdotes from people other than the author. However, it is hard to tell when the narrative shifts out of these many quotations and when we are back to the “author’s” voice. It can be a bit confusing.
Other than that, the contents of this book are very helpful.

Not bad but some of the narrators are annoying.
Revisado: 10-22-22
This part of the CBT series is very informative and practical. There is nothing wrong with the informational aspects and the author does a great job giving you “how-to” guides.
However, we can agree that a bad voice can ruin an audiobook. The voice actress “Miriam” has a horrific lisp that very much annoys and distracts from the program. Bless her heart that she cannot help it but she is present throughout the entire audiobook. The Great Courses could have made a greater effort in their selections.

It Dawned on Me
Revisado: 07-16-22
I became so emotionally invested in this book. It’s easy to form an attachment to the characters- especially the relationship between Gledia and Elijah. There subtle references to the other Asimov books that fit in so nicely such as the science of “Psychohistory” as well as the “legends” of robots. It is written in a way to where it seems that Asa mauve wrote these books in chronological order. After I finish the “robot series” I will be going onto the “galactic empire series” followed by the “foundation series”. For years I have been wanting to read Asimov but for some reason I got started on Arthur C Clarke. Until now, I thought that was the only science-fiction I would enjoy. I am impressed beyond measure by this sequel and I even find myself having conversations and speaking in ways that the dialogues occur between characters in this book. It is definitely worth the listen.

When parents send their children off to college, Mom and Dad hope they'll return more cultivated, knowledgeable, and astute - able to see issues from all points of view. But, according to Ben Shapiro, there's only one view allowed on most college campuses: a rabid brand of liberalism that must be swallowed hook, line, and sinker.

Shocking
Revisado: 08-06-18
Listening to this audiobook was a good decision. I am taking graduate courses in counseling and this audiobook has armed with with the logical tools to debate my viewpoints. The radical views of many the many college professors contribute to startling numbers and have me on my guard for indoctrination in my own education.

I really enjoyed this book. The stories were relatable and intriguing. The exercises seem to be useful but I have not implemented any of them yet. I will be reading this book again. It sounds like Stan knows what he is talking about. I really enjoy how he goes into the neurologival Explanations for our behavior in the context of relationships
