Historia
When Charley is rudely awakened in the middle of the night by her best friend who tells her to get dressed quickly and tosses clothes out of the closet at her, she can’t help but wonder what Cookie’s up to. Leather scrunch boots with a floral miniskirt? Together? Seriously? Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown....

Snark gets tiresome
Revisado: 05-09-16
Every second sentence tries to be a metaphor or a joke. It might seem light, but it gets tiresome trying to understand what's happening and backtracking all the time. The story doesn't progress much, but it is promising. Unfortunately the MC becomes unsympathetic as we get to know her. I dropped the series here.

An amazing audio experience (the whole trilogy)
Revisado: 04-18-16
Would you listen to The Alloy of Law: A Mistborn Novel again? Why?
Yes, because it's a great novel
What does Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The second character, Wayne, has a way of impersonating people that relies heavily on accents (and hats). Honestly, simply reading it will not be as great an experience as hearing the narrator bring these rich accents to life. This goes on throughout the whole Mistborn 2nd Era trilogy.

Historia
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Great but too long
Revisado: 03-09-16
I'm not the usual fantasy reader anymore, so if you devour tomes and tomes of sword and sorcery, ignore me. This is a great story, engaging and with a big cast, worthy of a tv series. The fantasy system is interesting and makes you want to explore it. The mists are cinematic, the action is great. The characters are funny and awesome. But its too long. I slept through four hours in total of the narration and didn't miss anything from the plot. There are huge expanses of talking in-between action. Some if it is interesting, other not so much. Every character is fleshed out nicely though. I might read more of the series. The production and narration is excellent. Summing up, a great read!

Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

Revisado: 03-09-16
Got recommended to this, and I have to say I love it! The narration gives a great experience, with the snark and the voices. The story is classic pi stuff, a few cases intertwining, mysteries upon mysteries. But there's dead people too, and they follow her around. We get a serious backstory for the heroine, which is repetitive but catchy enough to make you want to know more. The sexy scenes are few and with purple prose, if you were worried about that. Totally recommended.

I'll tell you about my experiences in the self-publishing world and how it takes a whole lot more than catchy covers and keywords to get your book to the best sellers. It also takes more than one book. It might take ten. It took seven for me and even then I wasn't' making millions and still aren't. But am I happy with my progress? Damn right. Am I paying bills? Yes Sir! Am I a millionaire? No, I am not! Does it matter? No! If you want to earn money as a writer, you need to write and be thankful for every book you sell.

Useful down to earth advise
Any additional comments?
Look past the title and the cover, this has some actual useful advice. It talks about hard work, about not believing the doomsayers of the indie publishing world, about doing your own thing. It's a rant, but a useful one. I totally agreed on some points, on others I disagreed but all in all it is a very down to earth introduction to indie publishing.

This is a contemporary story, of a girl year in school. Nothing much happens while many things happen and lives change but it is all interesting and detailed, the people, the interactions. It's a coming of age with her first kiss, her first boyfriend, a mess with friends... Also, she loves dolphins, to an insane degree. The story is parallelized with excerpts of a book about dolphins, and uses terminology like pods to talk about group dynamics at school. The boys are shown to be real jerks, but I guess that's how we appear to women. The girl is sarcastic and active, and is very interesting.
The recording has a hint of noise, but otherwise is crystal clear. The narrator delivers it perfectly, with some parts where she adds funny interpretations that made me laugh.
I totally recommend this, it's a great read!

This has all the right ingredients, band of rebels, evil Tesla, time travel, anachronisms, kickass heroines. But it somehow fails to click. I didn't care for the band of misfits, the story takes too long to get to the interesting parts despite it being a short book, and it gets too talky, while skipping the action.
The audiobook has issues. Variances in volume, I think due to a bad compressor setting. There are some errors at the early parts, but gets ok later on. The phrases were cut awkwardly, with mixed takes and mismatched performances.
