Epic world building and narrative continuity!

Terry Mancour tells rather than shows… a lot. His exposition exceeds “man-splaining”… to the point of MAGE-splaining lol

A truly enchanting tale
Revisado: 09-29-24
For those, like myself, who had seen the film and have yet read the book… both are quite fine. The book has a lyrical depth only hinted at in the film. A great read.

A classic tale featuring two of the most-memorable characters in sword and sorcery, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. Over a span of 50 years, the late Fritz Leiber wrote dozens of adventures, set in the fictional city of Lankhmar, featuring the seven-foot-tall barbarian and the diminuitive thief. The stories were recognized with both the Hugo and Nebula Awards.

One of my favorite Fafhrd & Gray Mouser stories!
Revisado: 01-17-24
Nothing, it is fantastic. One could wish for more, but brevity is the soul of wit. Fritz Leiber gives us just enough to whet our appetite and outline the narrative for us to fill in the corners with our own imaginations.

Hughes is a sardonic genius!
Revisado: 05-08-19
Hughes masterfully weaves together an adaptation of Jack Vance’s Dying Earth pastiche style with the who’don’it-ness of Ellory Mqueen and a dash of Jungian/Joseph Campbell mythopoetic dream verse.

Fantastic story, masterfully told!

Imagine one part “Black Beauty” with a dash of “Spartacus”, folded into a creative blend of Homer, Ovid and “Earagon”. John Lee is perfect for this role! Only he could be the dragon of ash and stars!

Far better than the tv series
Revisado: 05-14-15
Let me begin by saying that I am a big fan of the Longmire tv series; however, the novel weaves a far more complex and satisfyingly rich narrative. The twists and turns of the plot read true and organically shape character development in a most satisfying way. The pace is never hurriedly nor too slow. An excellent read. The narrator does a fine job with Walt Longmire's voice but has a limited repertoire of "other" voices for the supporting characters.
