Historia
Few can rival attorney Andy Carpenter's affection for golden retrievers, especially his own beloved Tara. After he astonishes a New Jersey courtroom by successfully appealing another golden's death sentence, Andy discovers that this gentle dog is a key witness to a murder that took place five years before. Andy pushes the boundaries of the law even further as he struggles to free an innocent man by convincing an incredulous jury to take canine testimony seriously. It will take all the tricks Andy's fertile mind can conceive to get to the bottom of a remarkable chain of impersonations and murder, and to save a dog's life - and his own - in the process.

Historia
Northern Ireland, spring 1981. Hunger strikes, riots, power cuts, a homophobic serial killer with a penchant for opera, and a young woman’s suicide that may yet turn out to be murder: on the surface, the events are unconnected, but then things—and people—aren’t always what they seem. Detective Sergeant Duffy is the man tasked with trying to get to the bottom of it all. It’s no easy job—especially when it turns out that one of the victims was involved in the IRA but was last seen discussing business with someone from the loyalist Ulster Volunteer Force.

Revisado: 10-08-16
Adrian McKinty told a chilling, believable story, set in the time of the hunger strikes in Ireland. Duffy is a likeable character, flaws and all. Lots of twists in an intriguing story, very well narrated by Gerard Doyle. I'll be reading more of McKinty's books.

Historia
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

A great start to the Jack Reacher series
Revisado: 09-25-16
I've read several Jack Reacher books before and really liked them. This book introduces him so well that I wish I had read it first. The story is interesting from the start and gives a lot of his history.Lee Child gives us a story with lots of twists, as usual. As an Aussie it was hard to get used to Dick Hill's drawl, but he did a good job of the narration.

I loved this book. It's my favourite Cliff Hardy book so far. There was plenty of action as well as twists. Peter Hoskings narration was brilliant, easily managing different accents realistically.

Another good book in the Cliff Hardy series
Revisado: 08-10-16
I enjoyed this book. It didn't have as much action as some others in the series, but delved into his past, and was more emotional. Cliff is still the quintessential Australian male, with the dry humour I really like. Once again the narration was so good that it didn't get in the way of the story.

What a waste of time! Jodi I am disappointed.
Revisado: 02-25-16
What would have made Nineteen Minutes better?
It seemed every few thousand words(obviously not thousands but it sure seemed that way) there was a point, describing, illustrating or teaching something. Jodi wrote boring as hell "filler" between incredibly remote points. When I am trying to find a good protein powder I look for one one with lots of protein, a few carbs, no fat and reasonable price. If I had been tempted to buy this as protein powder I would not because I see it as 1% protein, 70% carbs and 29% fat. I would not have bought at any price.
Would you be willing to try another book from Jodi Picoult? Why or why not?
I have. Read by more than 1 narrator. Still with too much filler..
Have you listened to any of Carol Monda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, in a book with multiple narrators. My sisters' keeper by Jodi. Carol Monda is a highly regarded narrator on audble. However there was only so far she could go with this book and I believe she has some difficulty moving from one character to another at times. I now prefer books read by several narrators, not one. (notice the filling :-)) OTOH Peter Hosking is such a great reader he doesn't need help to make each character distinct.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No. I read this book as I have read enough reviews of Jodi to believe the hype about her. On this book she is written up as having researched the topics before writing it and her children's problems of "fitting in" etcetera. I think she should have left this topic to someone else. The amount of time it takes to get through this is ridiculous. Eventually I stopped listening and read the book once they were in court and it still took me hours to get to the end. Then it didn't finish. If you have no life other than to read or listen continue to the end of this book. Such a great opportunity to entertain and educate wasted.
Any additional comments?
A redeeming quality I guess, for me it was an education on how not to write a book. If this book was a quarter the length it may have been palatable.
