Worst possible choice for narrator

I have listened to all Hiaasen books and loved all of them. I couldn’t bring myself to finish this one - even in 1.20 speed (which is mandatory for anything narrated by Scott Brick), the over-dramatization, long meaningful pauses and general feel of self importance goes against anything that makes Hiaasen the great author he is.

Please Please Please, Audible - let Mr. Brick narrate Victorian love stories or whatever else this over-the-top drama-king can narrate adequately, and let us listen to Hiaasen in a way that respects his writing and style!!

The Dublin trilogy and the State-side books are one of my best discoveries on Audible. Funny, touching, in addition to being just great thrillers. The narration is more than perfect, and takes the books to an even higher level. A must-hear. (Just make sure you get the Dublin books first, and in the right - somewhat confusing - order)

A beautiful story. Smart, touching, funny - everything you’d want and more. And the narration is one of the best I’ve ever heard - just perfect. Eagerly waiting for the next book.

Any additional comments?

If only this funny, fast paced, witty story by the great Dave Barry was narrated by a good voice actor (Dick Hill comes to mind), instead of the unfunny and monotonous narrator, Dave Barry, this would be a great listen.

Alas, Dave Barry chose to narrate the book himself, and IMHO his time would've been much better spent on writing another book.

I switched to the Kindle version at some point. Somehow, the narration is sucking all the funny out of this book.
