I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This Hope Hadley set was an easy listen. It’s perfect for multitasking as it’s not particularly involved.

Hope can strike as periodically unlikeable. She can have a lack of empathy as quickly evidenced in the first book as she hates being viewed as a suspect, but is aggressive and accusatory when speaking to other suspects. This only happens sometimes, and generally Hope is someone I’d be glad to grab a cocktail with. However, I’m very empathetic and when it happened it took me out of the story straight away.

The narrator is lovely, fun and plucky, as I assume Hope would be herself.

There are so many cozy mysteries out there I don’t think I’ll pick up another Hope book, but I’m very certain they are someone’s cup of tea.

I quite enjoyed Blind Affection. I actually felt on the edge of my seat most of the time. I find some audiobooks I’ll pick up because I’m bored, but I kept returning to this one so I could know what happened next.

C.J.’s narration took a little getting used to because it could be dramatic at times, but I thought he did an excellent job, especially with the voices, which were often so defined I could tell who was speaking before we were told.

It was not particularly sexual, though there were references to ‘man-parts’.

Overall, quite enjoyable. I’m just getting into the swing of romance novels and I’m looking forward to picking up my next.

I was given a copy of this audiobook, free of charge and at my request, in exchange for my honest and thoughtful review.

Overall: A light read, not in topic, but in writing style. It would be perfect for multitasking, either while driving or doing low-thought work.

Performance: I think Kevin Kollins was an excellent narrator, putting on voices when reading quotes and performing in a way which was mostly thoughtful for the difficult subject matter. The only thing that sticks out in my mind is once or twice, on chapter titles, Kevin did sound quite chipper. It made me laugh in the moment, but someone taking the stories a little harder might not find it quite as funny.

Story: This is the first book I've read by Mr. Rosewood. The book is 12 bite sized stories of true crime. I am a bit of a true crime nerd and while he referenced cases I knew, all 12 cases were new to me. An enjoyable read, nothing too in-depth and no pointless details. The stories are concise, but cover what they need to to make everything understandable. The cases are also not limited to one geographic region or style/type of crime, which I enjoyed for the change, but if you prefer lots of stories on one topic or in one region, this may not be for you.
