As a fan of the Psy-Changeling Trinity series, it is difficult to abandon optimism when a new offering is available. With the standard fillers of cooking, pets and insta-lust (hallmarks of this series), few pages are now devoted to the development of an original plot. The latest novels are primarily retreads of previous offerings. Most H/h issues are so shallow that even skimming is not necessary - just read the first and last two chapters.

It was irritating and distracting to hear Persephone and Hermes as well as may common nouns mispronounced in each of the books in this series, but the fatal blow by this narrator is her repeated pronunciation of "allies" as "alleys."

From first to last impression, this trilogy remains at the top of my list for excellence in YA fiction presented in audio. Kudos to Audible for following through with Natalie Gold as narrator for all three. Her narration lent depth to the individual characters without utilizing falsettos or any of the many exaggerated inflections so commonly found in today's narrated fiction.

What could Jessie Humphries have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The author started out with a good idea which rapidly deteriorated with the valley girl POV of a misanthropic teenage stalker turned vigilante assassin.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Less whining and self pity. Pagan's personality was as grating as the inferior narration. Most of the Glines books offered by Audible have great narrators. Listening to some of the characters in Existence was little better than trying to enjoy screeching nails on a chalkboard.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ashley Litz’s performances?

No.

19 hours in Anita's head with nothing more enlightening or provocative than the redundancy of her responses - "I thought about that," "I shrugged," "I shook my head," "I said the only thing I could," "I nodded," ad nauseum.

Throw in hours of gender stereotyping, misogyny, misandry, narcissism, and BDSM with the ever present guns, violence, and gore for fillers, and, wow, it's another LKH bestseller.

A series with great potential which goes nowhere. From first book to fourth, Kylie is immature and self-absorbed, lying not only to herself but to everyone she knows. Should have just read the first book four times.

What did you love best about Alice in Zombieland?

Pops and Nana interrogating Justin and Cole before they allowed them to leave with Alice.

What other book might you compare Alice in Zombieland to and why?

Gena Showalter's Belle Jamison duology had the same blend of pathos, horror and humor.

Have you listened to any of Natalie Gold’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, she was brilliant in Faith Hunter's Rogue Mage Series as well.

Any additional comments?

Through clever and humorous dialogue, the author alleviated the sobering effect of an otherwise macabre tale. The result is a novel make you laugh, cry, scream at the characters to "get outta there" and leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment of the White Rabbit Chronicles.

Perhaps too steamy for some teens, but great entertainment for those more mature. The narration by Kirby Heyborne captures the essence of Bo. Shayna Thibodeaux is also very convincing as Ash.

A successful novel makes the reader want more, and by presenting characters larger than life, Abbi Glines succeeds beautifully. Would love to see more of her work.

Difficult to finish. Jacquelyn Frank has created a great premise which is spoiled by a cold, selfish female lead whose only redeeming qualities remain physical strength and prowess, even at the conclusion. It is hard for this reader to accept Asia as the heroine in a romantic novel when every action, including the defense of her sister, is motivated by self-interest. And Chloe is the villainess? It's impossible to tell which character I disliked more.

Sadly, more promising characters, including Julian and Kenya with their strength of character and compassion, were not the focus of this first installment of a new series.

Hard to rate a novel where one element destroys all the positive aspects - great story, great narrator, great hero and interesting cast of minor characters. Jacquelyn Frank remains one of my favorite authors, but she missed the boat with this anti-heroine.
