According to Christianity, man is an enemy of God and does not seek him (Romans 3). This short work from Thomas Chalmers shows what is necessary to move one from a life of enmity toward God to one as a child of God. It is knowing, seeing, and tasting God as infinitely valuable. Human beings are creatures whose hearts, like nature, detest a vacuum, and so to expel the sin and selfishness in our hearts, we must fill them with something that is better and more satisfying - namely, Jesus Christ.
