Historia
Pamela Wright will never forgive her sister for dying in the Afghanistan war or the army for Laura's death or anyone else for making it okay for Laura to go halfway around the world to fight for reasons Pam has never fathomed. Numb with grief, she buries her sister but not her rage. Among the mourners is Trish Tomlinson, who loved Laura long ago and has found the news of Laura's death sharply painful.

This would have been so much better if it were performed by a narrator who gave distinctive voices per character. I had to slow the book down, and even then, had to rewind to figure out who was saying what.
Other than that, I give the book 5 stars. Coming from someone who served in the Virginia State Guard/Defense Force, I thoroughly enjoyed the military plot, albeit sad due to MJR Wright being KIA. I am a sucker for this type of happy, sappy ending, though! HOOAH!
P.S.
Nice surname used for Trish. She & I have that in common. XD

'Confuzzled,' muddled, and irked...oh my!
Revisado: 07-30-21
Struggled to finish: Yes, for several reasons. First, (and I really dislike doing this) I just could not get into this particular narrator. Next, I was rather confusing at times who was saying what, and I'd have to rewind it to find out. It felt this way to me because the conversations seemed to get a bit muddled (especially when at PMC or friend's parties), and also the narrator did not use distinct intonations or quirks for each character. And last, the sex was a bit to far on the kinky spectrum for me personally, but it was rather educational, for a mental health field teaching perspective. Maybe it will be of assistance in helping me help a future client/patient. Heh!
I do want to add that I'm rather irked as to why there are four different narrators in this series. It makes me rather sad! :[

Historia
When Claire, an overachieving psychologist with OCD tendencies, hires Lana, an impulsive, out-of-work actress for a fake relationship, she figures the worst she'll have to endure are the messes Lana leaves around. It's only for a few months anyway. And it's not as if she'll enjoy all those fake kisses and loving looks. Right?

...aanndd here's yet another favorite by Jae! Woo!
Revisado: 07-11-21
I absolutely loved it, Jae!!! Fantastic job, Angela, as always!! 💕
I especially loved that there are so many psychologists / LPC's in the book. Being that's Jae's past forte, well, she and I have that in common -- the mental health field. Go psychology and counseling (and social work)! Woo! 😜
**SPOILERS**
With that being said. . . I sure would love to read more of Claire & Lana's life together, now that they've found one another! The journey that they both went on, the paths that were taken and crossed for them to meet, despite the circumstances...in all of LA, these two incredible women connected together like puzzle pieces (after awhile -- they had to walk a mile in each other's shoes first). One eventually complementing the other, being strong where the other had a weakness, they both balanced one another like yin & yang. Claire helped Lana work on past traumas causing panic attacks, flashbacks, nightmares (PTSD Dx), and Lana helped Claire not to be so, err, anal-retentive (let your hair down, R-E-L-A-X, woman! "It's just water!" "I'm cooking" We are having sex, are you SERIOUSLY FOLDING THE CLOTHES WE JUST TOOK OFF...your br-...REALLY?! LEAVE THEM ON THE FLOOR. COME HERE! lol.) 😬
Ahem! 🤔
I love the many underlying morals of the book. Like the ones my mama taught me when I was little. Mama said, "Never judge a book by its cover." Stephen Cosgroves said it best in his 'Serendipity' children's book series, "Never, never judge a book by the way you think it's covered, for inside that tattered binding there is a lot to be discovered."
Mama also said, "You cannot buy love."
I'd say they both found A LOT more than they bargained for. Money like the $50,000 offered to Lana for the 'gig' is useless without someone you "actually" love to enjoy it with. And getting your book published is an accomplishment best celebrated with your life partner, the "true" love of your life. Hindsight is 20/20, though, right?
She also taught me that what people think about me doesn't matter, as long as I'm happy, and I'm not hurting anyone , then it shouldn't matter! Who cares what those snobs think about Claire being with Lana. Welllll, "SOCIAL CLASS" this, and "PRIM, THIN, AND PROPER" that. I honestly feel sorry for people stuck in that mindset. Expand your minds! Expand your love! Who cares about what your bosses friend's neighbor's sister thinks. She's gained a little weight? WHO CARES! lmao! If YOU are genuinely happy? That's ALL that MATTERS! LOVE is Love IS Love is LOVE!
The Road Less Traveled is best served with a healthy, hearty helping...of luurrvvee! 💋💗

I loved it! The love that bloomed between Sam and Abby was beautiful, and how well Grace took to Sam, too. The humor was wonderful -- I laughed SO much! I frowned and was heartbroken. I was scared and shocked. Happy and warm & fuzzy. I was mesmerized by depictions of love, romance, and sensuality. Such an array of emotions to be experienced when you read and/or listen to this book. In addition, it was beautifully narrated...I love the Aussie accent! <3

There are signs everywhere if you know what you’re looking for - signs that tell you you’re doing something wrong. Go back. Detour. Choose again. Do not collect 200 dollars when you pass Go. But I hadn’t paid attention to the warnings, too blinded by ambition and the desire to experience something new. Simply put: I was making a terrible, horrible mistake.

Overall an absolutely delightful story of a second chance at love.
Revisado: 04-29-21
At first I did not know if I was going to enjoy this book, but it ended up surprising me in many ways. It goes into my favorite lesbian book collection, overall — print, e-book, and audible books!
The story is well thought out, well written, and you feel a complete range of emotions throughout the book. You actually feel what the characters are feeling. Most importantly, I loved the parts that made me chuckle! ;D
Two things that bug me are that a lot of the time in the beginning of the book it switches from past to present so much that it gets very confusing to the point you don’t know up from down. Lol. Also, it is hard to differentiate between characters because the narrator does not create unique voices for each character. Maybe give Madison a more soft, low feminine voice, and Shannon a more husky, butch intonation? You did a fantastic job, Carly, thank you, I am just saying a lot of the time, it was hard to tell the difference between Madison & Shannon...who was speaking. You have a very beautiful voice!
Overall, this is a wonderful book. I have loved Gerri Hill since I discovered “Love Waits” what seems like forever ago. Extremely talented writer!
