I know this is a novel but the reality is true. My father in law spent 1936-47 training fighter pilots, engaging in combat during the 2nd Sino Japanese War even though he was an American. He saw the atrocities in a plane over Nanking in 1937. During the war he flew for CNAC, an airline jointly owned by China and Pan American flying gas and gunpowder over the Himalayas helping to keep China in the war. He loved China and it’s people. This story tore at my heart strings.

A life that needed to be known
Revisado: 04-10-19
Most of Americans never learned about real life in WW2, June came and school was over. It is so important to preserve the past before it is lost. Thank you Mr. Sullivan for bringing this to life. I know a lot about China before and during the war, thanks to my husband finding 30,000 papers of his fathers and wrote his story ( no I am not going interrupt your story). The purpose is to find these great people and their heroics and keep their stories alive. Everyone has a hero in their extended family. Please keep their stories alive. Thank you again for your book

For the first time, the full and complete story of the B-17 Flying Fortress Susan Ruth is shared in unbelievable detail. Author Steve Snyder's story of his father, Lieutenant Howard Snyder, and the Susan Ruth crew, provides in-depth details about many aspects of World War II few understand or know about.

Revisado: 09-09-17
The richness of the knowledge about the Susan Ruth makes this book one for the greatest generation. I listened to the book and did not get the pleasure of the 250 photos that I am sure enhanced the book even more. The book was a labor of love for the author and I thank him for sharing his family's story. If these stories are not written down, they will be forever lost. Everyone has a hero in their family and needs to do what Steve Snyder did and preserve his fathers legacy. Let this be an inspiration to others to find and share their families stories. I encourage you to read, or listen to this book.

Historia
1944. Physics professor Alfred Mendel and his family were trying to flee Paris when they were caught and forced onto a train, along with thousands of other Jewish families. At the other end of the long, torturous train ride, Alfred is separated from his family and sent to the men’s camp, where all of his belongings are tossed on a roaring fire. His books, his papers, his life’s work. The Nazis have no idea what they have just destroyed. And without that physical record, Alfred is one of only two people in the world with his particular knowledge. Knowledge that could start a war, or end it.

A good listen
Revisado: 08-02-16
I spent 3 weeks in China early in the summer spending much of our time at war museums covering this time period. My husband wrote a book about his father in China including this time period and WW2. It would not be proper to mention my husbands book on Amazon so I won't. This book gave me a different viewpoint from one involved in combat and training Chinese pilots. It was fast paced and gave the reader a feel of the life in China with all the wild warlords. I recommend this book to anyone with or without prior knowledge of the time period.

Historia
On a foggy summer night, 11 people - 10 privileged, one down-on-his-luck painter - depart Martha's Vineyard on a private jet headed for New York. Sixteen minutes later, the unthinkable happens: The plane plunges into the ocean. The only survivors are the painter Scott Burroughs and a four-year-old boy, who is now the last remaining member of an immensely wealthy and powerful media mogul's family. Was it by chance that so many influential people perished? Or was something more sinister at work?

One of the best audiobooks I have listened to. It kept my attention and not knowing how it would end I still did not want it to end. This book was a pleasure to listen to. I was intrigued with the main character and the way his mind worked.
