Historia
At War with Ourselves is the story of helping a disruptive President drive necessary shifts in U.S. foreign policy at a critical moment in history. McMaster entered an administration beset by conflict and the hyper partisanship of American politics. With the candor of a soldier and the perspective of a historian, McMaster rises above the fray to lay bare the good, the bad, and the ugly of Trump’s presidency and give listeners insight into what a second Trump term would look like.

Historia
The Emperor of All Maladies reveals the many faces of an iconic, shape-shifting disease that is the defining plague of our generation. The story of cancer is a story of human ingenuity, resilience, and perseverance but also of hubris, arrogance, paternalism, and misperception, all leveraged against a disease that, just three decades ago, was thought to be easily vanquished in an all-out "war against cancer".

Great story of human struggles. Humbling and full of hope. A must read.
I hope a newer edition would be in the works. Cancer story has many new chapters added in the last 15 years.

Historia
In gripping prose, one of the world's leading cardiac surgeons lays bare both the wonder and the horror of a life spent a heartbeat away from death. When Stephen Westaby witnessed a patient die on the table during open-heart surgery for the first time, he was struck by the quiet, determined way the surgeons walked away. As he soon understood, this detachment is a crucial survival strategy in a profession where death is only a heartbeat away. In Open Heart, Westaby reflects on over 11,000 surgeries, showing us why the procedures have never become routine and will never be.

Open Heart from the heart!
Revisado: 09-08-23
As a US heart surgeon, with a Middle-Eastern beginnings, I loved every bit of this book. I lived through every part of it and felt for the surgeon and the patient at every turn of events. British surgeons are particular about calling themselves "Mister" so I will say that Mister Westaby spoke for a lot of us heart surgeons, and for surgeons in general, and did not forget about patients, nurses and other professionals. It is a human story after all! and Mr Westaby told it and was fair to the story and to the players. I listened to the book twice, so far! I will keep it on my devices for later times. Most importantly, the book came to me in the most timely part of my career. It came as I have become more and more cynical and skeptical of my role. It gave me a boost and reminded me about the "why". It is not about personal conquests, or gains, or fame, or money. It is about people. Thank you, Mr. Westaby!

A journey
Revisado: 04-27-20
Tamim here takes the listener back with him on a journey and play with them as a friend. It feels just as easy to listen to this book. It doesn’t strike me as a great literary work, no psychoanalytic babbling or mastery of language. Just friendly dishing out of oneself. Done honestly and neatly. I enjoyed every minute of it. Laughed and felt sorrow. Thank you Tamim for sharing!

Historia
Sometimes rumor, sometimes based on fact and often misunderstood, the tenets of Islamic law and dogma were not set in the religion's founding moments. They were developed, like in other world religions, over centuries by the clerical class of Muslim scholars. Misquoting Muhammad takes listeners back in time through Islamic civilization and traces how and why such controversies developed, offering an inside view into how key and controversial aspects of Islam took shape.

Historia
In layered prose and with thoughtful, accessible scholarship, Aslan narrates the history of religion as one long and remarkably cohesive attempt to understand the divine by giving it human traits and emotions. According to Aslan, this innate desire to humanize God is hardwired in our brains, making it a central feature of nearly every religious tradition. As Aslan writes, "Whether we are aware of it or not, and regardless if we are believers or not, what the vast majority of us think about when we think about God is a divine version of ourselves."

Good and incomplete treatise on god
Revisado: 10-17-18
Reza once again shows his mature and deep understanding of his subject owed most likely to his scholarship and his ethno social background. The presentation is very balanced and lacks religious leanings.
Nevertheless, i was hopeful to hear him talk about personal god vs societal religion god, god the ideal vs god the universal law and god’s role in personal and societal existence vs the detached impersonal aloof god and god the psychological mind trick vs god the logical result of a conscious mind.
Overall great project and very American in simplicity and comfort.
