Could have been a piece for Medium

Ugh. This was a bit disappointing. I’ve enjoyed his other books and looked forward to the release of White.
While I definitely enjoyed parts of it, a lot sounded like an angry white dude rant.
It felt more like an op ed on Medium rather than a 6 hour audible. I lost interest towards the end. Funny enough, I agree with most of what he said, just too long and drawn out for a full book.

A fun easy listen

I enjoyed this book. I took my time listening, over a few weeks. Fun, interesting facts with humor thrown in. Great narration too.

Good, but not his best.

I love John Irving. And I really enjoyed this book overall. The narration was terrific and well suited for this story. One thing that kind of irked me was Irving’s almost obsession with breasts in this novel. A few other reviewers had pointed this out and I assumed they were probably being prudish. But no. Incessant commentary on everyone’s breasts. It’s almost embarrassing. Super juvenile.
I think more of the average male reader than to think this is the way they think.
If you can get past that, (which is A LOT) the book is really enjoyable.

If unbelievable stories are your thing..

I LIKED the writing, and stuck with the story even though it’s seriously the most unbelievable tale. It’s ridiculous.
But that being said, I still enjoyed it for some reason.
The narration was good, although she sounded way too old for this particular book.

Kinda fun, definitely kept my interest. The ending was abrupt, felt rushed , like just tied it up in the last 30 minutes.

I’ve always been a fan of Agassi and I throughly enjoyed hearing about his life and trials & tribulations.
He’s gone on to do such wonderful things for so many. It was a nice read.

I listened so you don’t have to!

I’m beginning to seriously question some of my fellow Audible listeners! HOW in the world could ANYONE give this book 5 stars?!?
This. Was. Awful.

The main character is such an idiot. In fact almost all the characters are dumb and annoying. I honestly was kinda hoping the main character was killed so perhaps the story had the remote chance of getting more interesting. Nope. No such luck.
The story is RIDICULOUSLY implausible which is an insult to anyone with half a brain.

The only plus was the narration. He did a fine job with what he had to deal with.

I try to finish every book I purchase, but man am I bummed I wasted 10 hours on this garbage.
