Historia
We begin with a nameless young couple: a boy and a girl, teenagers in love. One day, she disappears . . . and her absence haunts him for the rest of his life. Thus begins a search for this lost love that takes the man into middle age and on a journey between the real world and an other world—a mysterious, perhaps imaginary, walled town where unicorns roam, where a Gatekeeper determines who can enter and who must remain behind, and where shadows become untethered from their selves.

Historia
Last Train from Hiroshima offers listeners a stunning "you are there" time capsule, gracefully wrapped in elegant prose. Charles Pellegrino's scientific authority and close relationship with the A-bomb's survivors make his account the most gripping and authoritative ever written. At the narrative's core are eyewitness accounts of those who experienced the atomic explosions firsthand---the Japanese civilians on the ground and the American fliers in the air.

Historia
For more than a century, Dr. J. Marion Sims was hailed as the “father of modern gynecology.” He founded a hospital in New York City and had a profitable career treating gentry and royalty in Europe, becoming one of the world’s first celebrity surgeons. Statues were built in his honor, but he wasn’t the hero he had made himself appear to be. Sims’s greatest medical claim was the result of several years of experimental surgeries—without anesthesia—on a young enslaved woman known as Anarcha; his so-called cure for obstetric fistula forever altered the path of women’s health.

Great story!
Revisado: 09-02-23
The technique of switching between the male/Dr point of view and Anarcha/enslaved people point of view was very helpful to me as well as maintaining my interest.
It never stops surprising and disappointing me how fellow caucasians were and remain so cruel and self righteous. I suppose it always comes back to power and money. whoever looks most like the powerful and rich are "chosen" and whoever looks least like them are inferior and subhuman. Will we ever learn?
I would love to meet Anarcha and the other cursed women - hear their stories from their own mouths and get to know them. what a priviledge! how much I could learn!
