I was not a huge Dolly fan before this book but now I am. What a wise and talented woman. I enjoyed the audio book, hearing her tell her stories in her own words. Don’t miss out on this great story about her songs and her life.

To much banter

Couldn't get past the first few minutes. To much bouncing back and forth between speakers. Sounded more like a comedy than a true crime podcast. Passing on this one.

Good story ruined by a lackluster ending

I loved this book until it came to a very abrupt end. Possible spoiler alert here, but after all the excitement in Otherworld, the characters just riding off into the sunset to figure out what comes next was a huge letdown. I was so upset to have spent all this time to have the author end it without any real thought to it. Also, having a Texas TV station in the story described as a “podunk Texas station” was unnecessary, rude and insulting to the residents of the State of Texas. It had no, purpose other than to insult people from Texas, based on the few sentences leading up to the final insulting statement. I do not recommend reading this book because after all the excitement and creativity put into the story, it was all for not due to the rushed and unthought ending.

Interesting and unpredictable

I enjoyed this unique story and the characters. Because of the paradoxes, it was often unpredictable. It was fun to have historical figures included in the story along with the ever present question of was it truth or fiction. I did not care for the vocals used by the person reading the book. However, I’m one who prefers a story be read and not acted out by the reader.

Big disappointment

After anxiously awaiting the release of this book, I was irritated to find the first chapter being politically charged and painting a negative picture about our armed forces. I refused to read further which I tried not to do but it was clear that the book would be one big story about women’s rights. I can’t stomach anymore of that rhetoric right now. As a woman, I admire and respect all who serve. The possibility of sharing a good story was overshadowed by politics.
