Historia
One of the leading physicists of her generation, Dr. Chanda Prescod-Weinstein is also one of fewer than one hundred Black American women to earn a PhD from a department of physics. Her vision of the cosmos is vibrant, buoyantly nontraditional, and grounded in Black and queer feminist lineages. Dr. Prescod-Weinstein urges us to recognize how science, like most fields, is rife with racism, misogyny, and other forms of oppression. She lays out a bold new approach to science and society, beginning with the belief that we all have a fundamental right to know and love the night sky.

I always find it difficult to comprehend this topic. I am fascinated by it. I have several books on the subject in my library. I glean what my intelligence allows and over many readings, I feel I can understand some of the concepts. I have read about disagreements and bitter conflicts between scientists. I understand many women and minorities have been and are currently being short changed in history by their status in our population. I cheer for them. But one doesn't need to be in a particular group to have been forgotten when credit is handed around. There are personalities in every field who are loathe to share glory. I failed to finish the book. The author's theme of repeatedly injecting the unfairness of the world into her thesis became boring. I have no argument against the use of CRT. It is important that the ill-informed catch a clue of society's meanness. The reader is a good reader. But her lack of experience in correlating written words to pronunciation also got boring. I spotted it because I too am a reader who has been corrected. All of the above makes my understanding of the subject even more difficult. I think the book is boring, with too many distractions and confusing.

Historia
The man they took prisoner was not the Jonathan Tibbs they remembered. He said that time was running out. That the world faced an enemy it could not defeat. He said everything depended on whether or not they could make a leap of faith. Then, he asked them for five nuclear warheads. The Never Army is the final installment in The Chronicles of Jonathan Tibbs - a mind-bending, genre-crossing, multiple award-winning, action-adventure trilogy.

3rd listen, after hearing the 3rd book. I intend to hear the the 3rd book my 2nd time right now. I am picking up details pertinent to the story but glossed over(by my brain) during my early experiences. I am enjoying this story and wait to see how it unfolds with my current experience in play.

This has been my third listen of the first book. I'm about to begin my third listen of the 2nd. After, I'll listen to the 3rd book a second time. It hasn't gotten old. I still hear pieces of the puzzle fitting together.

Historia
Terence McKenna hypothesizes that as the North African jungles receded, giving way to savannas and grasslands near the end of the most recent ice age, a branch of our arboreal primate ancestors left the forest canopy and began living in the open areas beyond. There they experimented with new varieties of foods as they adapted, physically and mentally, to the environment. Among the new foods found in this environment were psilocybin-containing mushrooms.

I love the concept of exploring human development in the presence of natural and synthetic drugs but the narrator's delivery sounds like he is defending his thesis. There is no attribute of 'story'. After losing my place several times in the first 15 minutes, I decided to end the suffering.

I have a sense for characters who walk, open-eyed into trouble, saying, "Oh-Oh" all the way. Then proceeding. Contrived drama pisses me off. I know the story will likely end happily ever after but I can't wade through this anymore.

Struggled. The narrator tended to drone. She sometimes mispronounced words and had an odd cadence in her reading. It was if she hadn't read the story well enough to know it.

Based on the best seller, The Tao of Physics is an exploration of the parallels between modern physics and Eastern mysticism. It's author - the renowned physicist, theorist, writer, and lecturer - says, "Science does not need mysticism and mysticism does not need science; but man needs them both."

Amusing anecdotes.
Revisado: 01-11-20
I'm no physicist. Nor am I a mystic. I understand the basics in both fields and hoped to find the commonalities as advertised in the summary. What I found we're introductory inaccuracies and a collection of quotations by known famous intellects that appear to justify the position of this book. I was immediately bored by the narrator's droning and lost the thread of the story several times before giving up. I see this book bolstering the sensibilities of those ignorant of history and science, being faithful only to their established beliefs. Find a new narrator and I might give it another shot.

In Unstoppable, Bill Nye crystallizes and expands the message for which he is best known and beloved. That message is that with a combination of optimism and scientific curiosity, all obstacles become opportunities, and the possibilities of our world become limitless.

Revisado: 01-06-18
Listening felt a lot like hearing stories of the Holocaust. I believe what I hear and it fills me with dismay. So I can't bear it. I didn't finish because of it. Also, I feel as though Bill is only preaching to the choir. Those who are deny our climate change aren't likely to listen or learn. #45's rise to power has taught us that much.

Historia
The Arsenal of Democracy tells the incredible story of how Detroit answered the call, centering on Henry Ford and his tortured son Edsel, who, when asked if they could deliver 50,000 airplanes, made an outrageous claim: Ford Motor Company would erect a plant that could yield a “bomber an hour”. Critics scoffed: Ford didn’t make planes; they made simple, affordable cars. But bucking his father’s resistance, Edsel charged ahead.
