A delightful message to be transmitted to children but this sweet bunny. Short, but important in these times. Good work!

Historia
Three years after her fateful journeys through the forbidding mountains of Vystrana, Mrs. Camherst defies family and convention to embark on an expedition to the war-torn continent of Eriga, home of such exotic draconian species as the grass-dwelling snakes of the savannah, arboreal tree snakes, and, most elusive of all, the legendary swamp-wyrms of the tropics. The expedition is not an easy one.

Fictional science at best with even more feminism
Revisado: 01-11-18
If you have any interest in science and in dragons, this is meant for you. Or at least, I felt it was nade for me, and I am almost finishing a PhD.
This volume is centered around an expedition to a tropical country/colony and the study of the dragons therein. As before, little by little we learn about these dragons. And the continuity from book I is pretty nice. Supposing you read it, this book is when she lost the knife she mentioned losing in swamps in the previous book.
Also, the value placed on gender gap issues certainly makes a plus for it. Very worth it!

You, dear listener, continue at your own risk. It is not for the faint of heart - no more so than the study of dragons itself. But such study offers rewards beyond compare: to stand in a dragon's presence, even for the briefest of moments - even at the risk of one's life - is a delight that, once experienced, can never be forgotten….All the world, from Scirland to the farthest reaches of Eriga, know Isabella, Lady Trent, to be the world's preeminent dragon naturalist.

It is perhaps the audiobook I listened to the fastest! The scientific and renaissance air blend beautifully in this book, which is mainly one large expedition with its relevant background, fashioned as a memoirs. Loved it!

Historia
Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess. He never returned. Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

Interesting way of finishing (no spoilers)
Revisado: 10-28-17
Overall nice. It keeps a good enough connection through the book, but I was a bit disappointed with the underlying story structure. The world is essentially a video-game made into a book. This includes common clear hints on several secrets. Also, I didn’t like the musky beginning, but fair enough.
On the bright side, there are good plot twists unveiled towards the end. And though the main character is no genius, no stupid either, landing what I find a reasonable trail of/for growth.

A great continuation, but the end...
Revisado: 10-09-17
If you've gone through the series, there is not much to say but that it is incredibly amusing in its own way. However, I found the end, the very end, quite forced its way to assure another volume. Also, Tim has been my favorite character through the series, but not through this book. Seems toke that the character changed somehow, a bit inconsistent in my opinion. I hope for a recovery.

The voice editing has flaws, but the story is great!
Revisado: 07-07-17
Seriously, this book redefined my standards for evaluation. I loved the approach on how to tell a great epic story with "normal" and "supernatural" nuances everywhere. The main character essentially tells the beginning of his old quest in a very captivating way that made me want to listen to every bit. A few points were edited over for some necessity which drops the overall quality of the recording, but no loss at all!

Historia
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Interesting, though might be useful to have the physical book
Revisado: 05-31-17
Since it is essentially a list of laws with their explanation, having a physical copy of the book that can be quickly consulted seems to be a good idea.
Now, personally, I think it neglects the other side of these laws most of the time. Although every chapter takes into account the reversal of the law in case, these laws involve a person conduct and how it is perceived in its surroundings. But what about the surroundings? What when you are not in the position of the king and State, but in the position of the folks and servants? This is addressed, but not always, or only superficially. Well, I suppose this could double the length of the book, making a second one, perhaps. As an example, when he says one should avoid envy, what if you find yourself in the envious side? There is a line on that, but not much more. So, overall really good, but not complete.

Enlightening
Revisado: 12-19-16
An introduction to some of the most commonly used algorithms in computation that have clear applications to our lives, with concrete lessons and examples in it. A very good book. I'd add to the optimization section te new concurrent of simulated annealing and monte-carlo method: quantum annealing and quantum monte-carlo. If you can't go down your present hill for whatever the reason, gliding from one to another maybe just an option to take.

Tim and his friends find out the hard way that you shouldn't question the game master, and you shouldn't make fun of his cape. The next minute, they're in a horse-drawn cart surrounded by soldiers pointing crossbows at them.

It gets better and better
Revisado: 10-15-16
Sincerely, I didn't like the starting cliche. But for those who know d&d, there are some really nice jokes. Still, as the plot develops, the whole story gets much better, very much as a dnd game indeed in a funny way. So, it is certainly a story from fan to fans, that can really be quite enjoyable. Definitely gonna listen to the continuation, for even the end is a nice cut.

Historia
Superintelligence asks the questions: What happens when machines surpass humans in general intelligence? Will artificial agents save or destroy us? Nick Bostrom lays the foundation for understanding the future of humanity and intelligent life. The human brain has some capabilities that the brains of other animals lack. It is to these distinctive capabilities that our species owes its dominant position. If machine brains surpassed human brains in general intelligence, then this new superintelligence could become extremely powerful - possibly beyond our control.

Interesting, but a bit exaggerated
Revisado: 08-24-16
First of all, if you are interested in the topic of super intelligence, I do recommend it. But bear in mind the first warning of the author throughout the whole book: it is jot a comprehensive evaluation.
This said, I should explain what didn't please me. I'm a theoretical physicist, so math and computers are not strange to me. And from my vantage point, the author seems to rely a lot in divergences to build up an apocalyptic scenario. For the proposed discussion, we need to accept it, but divergences always hide interesting phenomena that the author overlooks. Besides, divergences tend to be suppressed by some sort of interaction. This, in the end, the author does take into consideration later on (to avoid spoilers, I'll not discuss what I mean by interaction in this context), to make ways to avoid the apocalyptic end. So, I think it is a fair approach, but sincerely not to my taste.
