Unpredictable! And that's a lot coming from me.
Revisado: 01-14-22
Excellent story and narration. Even when I thought I had it all figured out, there comes yet another twist. I don't give a lot of 5-star reviews... but this one truly earns it. Very well done.

Wow... what a ride!
Revisado: 12-18-21
Great story with twists I didn't expect, and I enjoyed the journey very much. And the narration was spot on excellent. I wish more narrators were more like these two. Stephanie Racine was especially good - her dramatic pauses really made a point.

Jesus saves him from the dragon. I cannot imagine any book where this combination would appeal to me, including this one. Narrator did a fine job with such silly material.

Historia
Erin Blake has one of those names. A name that, like Natalee Holloway or Elizabeth Smart, is inextricably linked to a grisly crime. As a toddler, Erin survived for three days alongside the corpse of her murdered mother, and the case - which remains unsolved - fascinated a nation. Her father's identity unknown, Erin was taken in by her mother's best friend and has become a relatively normal teen in spite of the looming questions about her past.

Predictable
Revisado: 10-26-18
On the plus side, I really enjoyed the forensic details. But overall I didn't find the characters very credible... I couldn't help but wonder when Scooby-Doo and Shaggy would show up.
Oh, and I had the killer pegged early on. No real twists or clever plot.

VERY disappointed - and so many good reviews!
Revisado: 09-05-13
What would have made Highland Promise better?
Where do I start? The narration might not have been so bad if the story had been better.
What was most disappointing about Hannah Howell’s story?
The heroine! How many times can she think it's "safe" to go out unprotected, and every time she's attacked? Not very quick witted. The sex was rather ho-hum as well.
How could the performance have been better?
Unable to distinguish her "male" voices from certain female characters. Male voices too gravelly.
What character would you cut from Highland Promise?
The heroine. She's a dim-witted dud.
Any additional comments?
The story is also the weary conundrum of a couple unwilling to each be the one to admit to being in love first - so they both "hold back" certain truths.

Unimpressed
Revisado: 09-07-09
I don't think the author knows anything about being in Door County in the fall/early winter. It just wasn't credible on several levels.
The narrator had the flattest monotone I've heard in a long time. Not someone I'd ever have read a book again.
