This is a Christian book but that wasn't very clear from the product details. The tips are also not applicable to non Christians. Unfortunately I can't return it because I bought it on sale.

I liked it, and it opened my eyes to a few trends I was overlooking. But it is very short and doesn't really cover what it promises - how can small businesses compete against tech giants.

Historia
Let's face it: We all know people who are irrational. No matter how hard you try to reason with them, it never works. So what's the solution? How do you talk to someone who's out of control? What can you do with a boss who bullies, a spouse who yells, or a friend who frequently bursts into tears? In his book Just Listen, Mark Goulston shared his best-selling formula for getting through to the resistant people in your life. Now he brings his communication magic to the most difficult group of all - the downright irrational.

Really good
Revisado: 12-27-22
Listened in one day and took lots of notes. It's full of practical advice, which is not based on research but on years of practice from the author. This is for me much better than platitudes about listening. Also, the author has already a book on that topic for those who are interested.

It's about social studies around dopamine
Revisado: 10-01-22
The criticism of of other reviews, in particular the chapter on politics, don't do justice to the book. It's a very easy read and obviously social science has many caveats one should consider. Criticizing results of studies just because they don't match personal beliefs is a no for me.
Having said that, I hoped the book would dive deeper into the biology and behavior associated with dopamine and other neurotransmitters. That didn't happen, with all of it being about social studies and the duality of dopamine vs. other neurotransmitters.

Historia
For comedian and content creator Manon Mathews, comedy is life. But it took more than luck for her hilarious antics on Vine to open the door to her career. It took years of routinely embarrassing herself, improv classes, some stints as an amateur stand-up comic, unrelenting dedication, and one life-altering night out that forced her to change her ways. This set her on the path to manifesting her dream life.

Uninspired and uninsightful
Revisado: 05-13-22
Unlike other reviewers, I didn't feel like it's difficult to relate to her life. But unique stories and a level deeper of vulnerability and reflexion are indeed missing.
The book is just basic and bland. Not that entertaining and nothing that you haven't heard a hundred times before.
The exceptions are a couple of chapters where she tells stories on why being honest and open pays off for everyone.

Historia
It's not you; it's your schedule. Does it sound like magic? It's not. We've all heard of circadian rhythms - those biological processes that give us jet lag and make us night owls or early birds. But few of us know just how profoundly these diurnal patterns affect our overall health. Bad habits - like skipping meals, squeezing in workouts, working late into the night and then trying to catch up on sleep during the weekend - disrupt our natural cycles. A growing body of research on chronobiology reveals just how sensitive the human body is to these rhythms all the way down to the genetic level.

Some good ideas
Revisado: 05-09-22
It's difficult to review, because it mixes science with pseudoscience with bullshit. I'd probably read it again, but be ready for fluff and the many horoscope-like questionnaires, arbitrary "types" and "recommendations" for you based on those.

Historia
We have never before in human history been able to share so much about ourselves so quickly. Neither have we ever been so exposed to forces that want to take advantage of that capability. Taking Control of Your Personal Data will open your eyes to the surprising extent of that exposure and will discuss your options for keeping your personal data as safe as possible. Your instructor, Professor Jennifer Golbeck of the College of Information Studies at University of Maryland, College Park, will show you what really goes on behind the scenes with the data you share all day long.

Good listen, but superficial
Revisado: 03-12-22
Before starting this book, I knew a lot more than what was covered. It's very non-technical and covers a wide range of interesting topics. Even though it worked more as a consolidation/review for me, I still really enjoyed it. I just wish it would have been more comprehensive. For example, covering the use of password managers would have been critical.

When his first book tour ended, Brad Montague missed hearing other people's stories so much that he launched what he dubbed a Listening Tour. First visiting elementary schools and later also nursing homes and retirement communities, he hoped to glean new wisdom as to how he might become a better grownup. Now, in this playful and buoyant book, he shares those insights with rest of us - timeless, often surprising lessons that bypass the head we're always stuck in, and go straight to the heart we sometimes forget.

Nothing brings me to tears. This book did, many times. Impeccable narration and great stories. It's also not just for educators, but honestly should be listened to by all adults.
