Historia
England, 1914. The world is at war. Captain Hastings, injured and shaken, is invited to Styles Court to recover. It’s a grand old country house - the family home of his old friend - and a perfect haven. Or so it seems. But in the blistering summer heat, trouble is afoot. Simmering tensions are tearing the family apart, and it all comes to a head in the most horrifying way.

Thrilling
Revisado: 03-27-24
Since I have seen the movie version so many times, I did not expect too much from this story. I’m so glad to say that I was totally wrong and from the beginning was captivated . The story line has a great pace and the narrator does a wonderful job. This was a pleasant surprise.

Historia
Fiver could sense danger. Something terrible was going to happen to the warren; he felt sure of it. They had to leave immediately. So begins a long and perilous journey of survival for a small band of rabbits. As the rabbits skirt danger at every turn, we become acquainted with the band, its humorous characters, and its compelling culture, complete with its own folk history and mythos. Fiver’s vision finally leads them to Watership Down, an upland meadow. But here they face their most difficult challenges of all.

Historia
In the respectable seaside town of Flaxborough, the equally respectable councillor Harold Carobleat is laid to rest. Cause of death: pneumonia. But he is scarcely cold in his coffin before Detective Inspector Purbright, affable and annoyingly polite, must turn out again to examine the death of Carobleat's neighbour, Marcus Gwill, former prop. of the local rag, the Citizen. This time it looks like foul play, unless a surfeit of marshmallows had led the late and rather unlamented Mr Gwill to commit suicide by electrocution. ('Power without responsibility', murmurs Purbright.)

Hard to follow
Revisado: 02-03-23
I was really hoping to enjoy this story as the plot sounded very interesting but I had such a difficult time following the story. There were many times that I had to rewind and listen again for some of the details. The whole experience was not very enjoyable. There also was not enough of a distinction in the narrator’s voice when switching amongst the various characters. I was often puzzled which character had made statements.

Historia
Set in Italy during World War II, this is the story of the incomparable, malingering bombardier Yossarian, a hero who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. But his real problem is not the enemy - it is his own army, which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. Yet if Yossarian makes any attempt to excuse himself from the perilous missions he's assigned, he'll be in violation of Catch-22.

God Awful!!!
Revisado: 05-17-18
I selected this story because of it’s ‘classic’ status. Over the years I’ve seen it displayed in various books stores and ‘must read’ lists. What a disappointment! I find the story line very random and difficult to follow. The dialogue goes around in circles often ending in tangents. The narrator consistently seems to be yelling. I forced myself to listen to about 8 chapters but I couldn’t stomach any more. Not worth the time!
