Historia
The story that became a global sensation: Sophie, the Australian cattle dog who was lost at sea and swam six miles through shark-infested waters to a remote island where she survived in the wild for five months.... It was just another day in paradise as Jan and Dave Griffith, along with their blue cattle dog, Sophie, motored out of Mackay Marina for a gorgeous weekend at sea. But when the sky suddenly darkened and the waves turned fierce, the unthinkable happened: Sophie disappeared overboard.

Historia
Hundreds of hardy people have tried to carve a living in the Alaskan bush, but few have succeeded as consistently as Heimo Korth. Originally from Wisconsin, Heimo traveled to the Arctic wilderness in his feverous 20s. Now, more than four decades later, Heimo lives with his wife approximately 200 miles from civilization - a sustainable, nomadic life bounded by the migrating caribou, the dangers of swollen rivers, and the very exigencies of daily existence.

Dislike this book!
Revisado: 09-29-20
I do not like reading about animals suffering in leg traps. I appreciate they have to eat but a speeding bullet would be more acceptable and humane for the victim. The worse part is I cannot get this book OUT OF MY LIBRARY. I have clicked for it to be REMOVED but it's still there. Every time I see it I go back to the leg trap and the misery that the wolverine endured while Helmo goes on and on about how much $ he will get for his fur! Sickening!

Loving this book. Gary is a great narrator and makes it come alive. I have done a lot of hiking and he really tells it like it is. Distance hiking is certainly not for the faint of heart.
