Surprised at How Good it Was
Revisado: 05-09-14
The reviews were spot on for this book. I am not a Kiss fan but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I really enjoy it when an author reads his own book and hats off to Paul Stanley for having the balls to read his own story. I enjoyed the honesty and it actually turned into a motivational story towards the end. Great listen and well worth the credit! (don't listen with the kids or if you don't like hearing the f-bomb and sex stories)

Reviews are Overrated
Revisado: 05-09-14
After reading the reviews I was very excited to read this book and it was a total disappointment. I have read and listened to many survival stories and this was the worst book of this genre that I have listened to. I was expecting a thorough and exciting account of each story and that did not happen. I did not finish the book because it was so bad so maybe it got better, but I was so disappointed I could not continue on. If you are looking for a detialed and exiting account of survival stories and an explanation of why people survive, this is NOT the book for you.

Historia
From the former secretary of defense, a strikingly candid, vivid account of serving Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. When Robert M. Gates received a call from the White House, he thought he'd long left Washington politics behind: After working for six presidents in both the CIA and the National Security Council, he was happily serving as president of Texas A&M University. But when he was asked to help a nation mired in two wars and to aid the troops doing the fighting, he answered what he felt was the call of duty.

Great inside details
Revisado: 02-27-14
This was a very informative book and well worth the credit. The book provided a unique look at what goes on behind the scenes of a mega bureaucracy. The only negative I have is that I would have preferred the book to be read by Gates himself. The narrator did a good job but he miss pronounced some of the words and it would have had a greater impact coming from the man himself.

Educational
Revisado: 11-06-13
This is an educational and objective look at the spiritual world. The narration is exceptional and the narrator brings you in with his ability to switch to many different voices. Definately worth the credit and it will have you taking an extra look around the bedroom when you turn the lights out.

Historia
Jacob Tomsky has worked in hotels for more than a decade, doing everything from valet parking to manning the front desk. He's checked you in, checked you out, separated your white panties from the white bed sheets, parked your car, tasted your room service, cleaned your toilet, denied you a late check out, given you a wake-up call, eaten M&Ms out of your mini-bar, laughed at your jokes, and taken your money. And in Heads in Beds, he pulls back the curtain on the hospitality business.

Great listen and well worth the credit. Not a family road trip book but it will make you laugh, as long as you don't get offended by tough language. I am glad the author did the narration because it would not have been the same coming from someone else.

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Not just a chick book
Revisado: 09-26-13
When I read the reviews of this book I was intrigued but worried that it may have been written totally for a female audience. This was a very enjoyable listen no matter what your gender. Very honest and a well balanced mixture of life on the PCT and the sotry of the difficulties she faces in her past life. Well worth the credit.

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Revisado: 05-13-13
I appreciated hearing the perspective from the German fighter pilot's side of the war. I have a whole new appreciation of what they were about and what they were fighting for. This is a remarkable book and one of the best that I have ever listened to. Get it now. You will not be dissapointed.

Historia
Is it possible that there exists an ancient mystery that holds the secret of America's future? That this mystery lies behind everything from 9/11 to the collapse of the global economy? That ancient harbingers of judgment are now manifesting in America? That God is sending America a prophetic message of what is yet to come? Before its end as a nation, there appeared in ancient Israel nine specific warnings and omens of national destruction - these same Nine Harbingers are now manifesting in America with profound ramifications.

Prophecy?
Revisado: 03-17-13
If the author really has received a prophecy, why does he have to put it in the form of a novel? Why not just spell out exactly what the prophecy is? I kept having this thought as I tried to listen to the book. I got about 3/4 of the way through and had to move on.

Historia
The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.

Revisado: 03-17-13
I have read a couple of Gladwell's books and they are informative but I find they all start running together and even have some of the same information in each book. I found this interesting at times but not enough to get excited about.

Even when you follow all the rules, life can go very wrong.... Dennis Mansfield and his wife, Susan, planned for and expected every parent's dream, but instead lived every parent's nightmare. This haunting memoir tells the story of a father who diligently followed all the parenting rules that he learned from conservative Christian "experts" - yet life with his son Nate went terribly wrong when the young man died at 27 of drug-related causes.

Good story but lacked depth
Revisado: 03-17-13
Overall, I enjoyed this book and think the story is compelling and needs to be told. I enjoyed having the author read the book because he could put his own emotions into it. I really wish the author would have put more details into what it was like having a drug addicted son. What were the early signs? What did it do to the rest of the family? What exactly went on? I feel like this was glossed over and the book would have had much more impact if the cold hard facts were laid out for the reader. It was almost as if the author really wanted to tell the story but was embarassed by the details. I still would recommend the book because this is such an important topic and the story is good.
