Historia
Jack Beilis once lived the American dream: custom suits, new cars, and the best clubs. But by 1931, he has sunk so low he cannot feed himself or his ailing father. Now he barely has time to wipe the blood from his hands before he finds himself on a ship from New York to Moscow, running from a crime he never intended. Desperate for an escape route, Jack wants to believe stories of a worker's paradise in the Soviet Union. Maybe the distance between Ellis Island and Red Square will let him leave poverty - and his pursuers - far behind.

Historia
In the summer of 1937, Amelia Earhart is the most famous woman in the world - a record-breaking pilot, a best-selling author, and a modern woman shattering the glass ceiling in the early days of aviation. And then she vanishes. In Tampa, Florida, 15-year-old Lizzie Friedlander spends her afternoons glued to her father’s radio, tapping into the enormity of a world she longs to travel. Lizzie can hardly believe her ears when she picks up a radio signal from a faraway source that sets her heart racing: “Amelia Earhart calling SOS!”

A different dimension
Revisado: 02-08-20
I was put into a different dimension listening to this. Floating in the atmosphere with Amelia and dealing with my life as a young girl on the ground. And could I relate!!!!!

Second time is better than first time
Revisado: 07-10-15
This is the second time I've listened to the audio version of this book. The first time I was up for the entire night. I could not sleep knowing that Trish was lost. The second time I found the ending moved me to tears. I think between the first and second times which cover a period of about ten years I have been lost in the woods a few times myself allegorically speaking. So I know how it feels. I also know that anything can happen at any time. One moment you are waking up to another uneventful work day. The next moment you are watching a news cast of an airplane flying into a tall building and your life forever changes. The Wasp King is still alive and well. Watch out for that one.

Historia
The house was built in the Old Queen's time: built for an Elizabethan pirate who was knighted for the plunder he brought home. It survived many eras, many reigns: it saw the passing of Cromwell and the Civil War. It became rich with an Indian Nabob and poor with a 20th century innkeeper. It saw wars, and lovers, and death. Children were born there, both heirs and bastards. It had ghosts and legends and a history that grew stranger with every generation.

Bless This House - my take
Revisado: 04-05-09
I have loved this book from the time I first read it a years ago. It has everything in it - unrequited love, hauntings, mysteries, and at last the fulfillment of everybody's wishes. Set in England, filled with unforgettable characters, events, history, and the sheer humanity of people living age by age under the same roof. Finding this book again was what made me join Audible in the first place, and i'm listening to it again, slowly and luxeriously, enjoying the audio book version as much as I enjoyed the paper book, which I eventually wore out. Take this story at face value, and let yourself follow each person, just be a part of their lives. After a time, you may start to feel, as I did, that the window seat belongs to you and no other.

Pleasantly Surprised
Revisado: 03-11-09
My first listen was an easy, fun introduction to audio books. The plot is surprisingly sad, funny, wistful, and oh so true. I listened to the entire thing, quite on the edge of my seat to see what the outcome would be. Recommended to anybody who wants to understand what audio books can do for your mind.
