Kinda monotone but not horrible
Revisado: 09-24-23
Okay so we're all used to Renee as narrator in KD series it was 10 books. She was brilliant and it's difficult to shift gears to someone else who might not be as good at the voices. No offense to this narrator but you can tell the difference in a big way. At least Hillary you can. Michael did a great job with Curran. I think what bothers me about Hillary is she's not consistent. She sounds like she's reading for a corporate meeting on zoom sometimes. Kinda monotone. Then she has really great moments. I don't think we're always feeling the emotion from her. The connection that she should have as Kate at all times. Like she's missing the spark of Kate's personality and humor. Her anger especially. I don't dislike Hillary and I think she does okay but I think there's room for improvement for sure. I think the best way to describe it is I want the narrator to make me feel her characters and she doesn't exactly pull it off. Sometimes she does but not always when it counts and it's a stressful part of the book. She did really well with Conlan so like I said it's not consistent and perhaps she's better at some characters than others. Kate is special so as fans we do expect it to be as close as possible to her character. I know they can't use Renee for everything and I'm not even upset they went another direction but I feel it could have been done better. Not just monotone most of the time. I feel it was 70% monotone and 30% accurate narration. I also don't care about pronunciation that others are having a cow over. Every narrator gets stuff wrong and I think Renee got a lot wrong but we didn't know at the time or didn't care. So, hopefully if this duo is used before we get a little more consistency.

Life is busier than ever for Innkeeper Dina DeMille and Sean Evans. But it’s about to get even more chaotic when Sean's werewolf mentor is kidnapped. To find him, they must host an intergalactic spouse-search for one of the most powerful rulers in the Galaxy. Dina is never one to back down from a challenge. That is, if she can manage her temperamental Red Cleaver chef; the consequences of her favorite Galactic ex-tyrant's dark history; the tangled politics of an interstellar nation; and oh, yes, keep the wedding candidates from a dozen alien species from killing each other.

Not the best
Revisado: 02-02-23
Oh man. Okay so the narrator isn't horrible but she didn't quite capture the emotions of characters. It felt completely off. Some pronunciations were wrong. I don't know why Renee wasn't used like she was for the first 3. Maud had to be different so I get that but I think Renee should have been used for this because there's nobody like her tbh. She gets into the characters and you definitely feel like your there. No offense to this lady but it didn't hit right at all. Could be a reason they didn't use Renee but I thought they'd use someone similar and far from it. She didn't even use the Texas accent like previous books. Disappointed for sure. The story was good but a bit much in the explanations of everything. Slowed down the book a lot.

Thank you for joining us at Gertrude Hunt, the nicest bed-and-breakfast in Red Deer, Texas, during the Treaty Stay. As you know, we are honor-bound to accept all guests during this oldest of innkeeper holidays, and we are expecting a dangerous guest. Or several. But have no fear. Your safety and comfort is our first priority. The inn and your hosts - Dina Demille and Sean Evans - will defend you at all costs. But we hope we don’t have to.

Narrator was terrible.
Revisado: 10-27-22
Oh no...I knew this was going to be bad. Not the story but narration. Same one used in Maud's book. Using her for this one made no sense. We're used to hearing Renee and her doing the voices. I don't quite understand why they didn't use Renee but perhaps there was scheduling problems. I don't know but she didn't even try to do Dina with a southern accent. I mean that's a big draw for Dina and the little twang we got with Sean. I hope they get someone else for the next one or get some improvement. No offense to the narrator but she didn't get even close. Disappointing.

Revisado: 10-27-22
Loved the book itself but I wish the narrator made Maud stronger sounding. She made her sound like she could be anyone but Maud is anything but normal. I wanted her to have more bite...more clipped in certain situations for sure. She nailed Arland but again in high stress parts of the book he wasn't growly enough.

Not a fan of the narrators
Revisado: 08-23-22
I tried book 2 but I just don't like them for this. I'm sure they are great but although they improved a bit it's still too monotone for me. There's a lot of emotion in this book different kinds but it was never shown much. The male trying to do a female voice was not good. Kinda funny but no. Hopefully for her future books she can find more experienced narrators. I had to return it in the middle just not enjoyable. That sucks.

They think I’m half angel and half human. They think I have no magic. They think that because I grew up in the human world, I’m clueless about what to expect at Seraphim Academy. They’re wrong. I’m not half human. I’m half demon. And this little succubus has come to play. My brother vanished from Seraphim Academy without a trace, and I’ll do whatever it takes to find him, including infiltrating the school myself.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 08-20-22
The story itself is really good. I enjoyed the characters. Olivia has been dealt a crappy life. She's half angel and demon which is forbidden and has had to hide all her life for her safety. Her parents weren't in her life so she was in constant foster care. She didn't have the life she should have but she understands although resentful a little bit. She's close to her half brother Jonah who's gone missing so she enters the school trying to hide who she is to find out what happened to him. She meets 3 Prince's who try to get rid of her. They are jerks and well interesting things happen. Will she find her brother and can she hide her true self?
Narrator for Olivia is really good but the male one is kinda terrible. He's sounding too feminine to pull it off. It's hard to take seriously because the male characters are kinda Alpha like and the narrator doesn't do it justice. They sound girly lol.

Not a fan of the audio
Revisado: 06-12-19
I listened for a bit and I just didn't like the narration. Male and female is new to me and I think it would have been better if they were more authentic with their characters. Came off as trying too hard and not genuine. Sorry.

This is for audio only
Revisado: 02-19-19
I got the audio too of this book. I know we had to have someone different because it's a shift from Nevada to Catalina. I was on board with it. My problem is we're used to knowing what the characters sound like. It's hard adjusting. Connor sounds different and not very Connor we know him to be which is rough around the edges. I think the narrator struggles with male characters and trying to get them to sound male enough without making Catalina or female voices too different. Leon and Bern sounded ok. Connor just sounded off. I don't know how much Connor will be in the next books or male characters. Hopefully it gets better in the next.

First Mate
Revisado: 06-07-18
I love her books but her newer style or how she changed it is taking some getting used to. I still enjoy it but its shifted a little compared to her earlier work. Wasnt a huge fan of Michi at first. She took getting used to and she was a little vapid even though she's smart. She's kinda full of herself. She's like that throughout the book til around the end then I started to like her about 3/4 the way in. In her defense her Father sheltered her so all she new was privilege. Damon I really loved him. He was hilarious. Poor guy! Enjoyable story but had some issues in spots.
Audio part is going to be tricky. Sorry to say I didnt like the audio much. The narrator wasnt horrible but he wasnt great either. Its hard for a male to do female voices. Or at least as close as possible and I get that. It felt like he really didnt try. Its like my husband trying to sound girly. He was very monotone too. No enthusiasm in parts where it should have been. To be fair it wasnt like that throughout the whole book. There were times it was fine so it just wasnt consistent. No way to tell the different characters who are speaking. Like a different voice for each character. A lot of narrators can do that but it appears this guy doesnt or cant do that. I wasnt impressed with this one. I've heard him before and he's done a better job in those but this one not so much...sorry.

She'd like to blame her illogical affection for him on hormones, but the erotic remedy just heightens her chemical imbalance. I've actually not gotten to the rest of the series so at some point I'll have to backtrack and read them. I didnt feel necessarily lost but I think it would have been better to read them in order. I think I'd get a better picture of them. Its also hard for me to do audio by itself without following along with the book. So, I'll have to get the book sometime too. :) It was a good book. Entertaining and loved the idea. It was super sexy times and I liked both Reg and Penny. Both stubborn and against getting hitched but hello chemistry and fate ya know? I recommend!
