Engaging story

Do not recommend

I have enjoyed Robert Brynzas other books but this was a disappointment. I could not decide if it was the writing or the narrator. The main character came across as fretful, weak, and yes the trite “almost raped” got thrown in. The narrator read the characters thoughts in a trembling, querulous voice. Possibly a more dynamic portrayal might have helped. I was sorry I spent a credit on it.

I got absolutely nothing done for the 2 days it took me to listen to this. The story was not predictable,. I highly recommend it. Very well written, lots of depth

Violence

Too much violence. Women being threatened with rape, not even believable. I like JD Kirk books normally, fast forwarded through a lot of this one.

Disturbing

I found the story a little disturbing. Lots of verbal violence against women. Necessary for the story line and realistic. But still a little unpleasant. Like submerging yourself in online trolling.

disappointing

Disappointing to put it mildly. There were two story lines and neither was remotely plausible. Ridiculous torture scenarios throughout. I honestly didn’t care enough about any of the characters to care if they were tortured for hours/days. Kim Stone isn’t really three dimensional in this one. Neither are her team members. This is probably my last Angela Marsons book. The narrator was ok but by the end, even she was getting on my nerves. Save your time. Skip this one

This is my third Joy Ellis book. It held my attention, was not predictable, and the characters were believable and likable. I didn’t guess the ending but it left me with a smile. I recommend it.

A big disappointment

I always look forward to any book by Michael Connelly, but I returned this about half way through. The narrator wasn’t my favorite but was adequate. The actual story line was interesting, as far as I got. All the characters were one dimensional. The behavior of the main character defied logic. He blundered along, wandering through possible crime scenes leaving fingerprints everywhere, leaving voicemails with potentially damaging information, and worst, exposed all kinds of people to unnecessary violence. People would say, don’t call me, it’s dangerous and he would call and leave messages that would get the person killed if heard by the wrong person. Who is this stupid? Surely not the Founder and main researcher of a
major tech company. I found myself hoping the bad guys would kill him off just because he was behaving so stupidly. I’m sorry. I gave up half way through. I recommend not wasting time on this one.
