kept me guessing
Revisado: 07-19-24
so many stories are ridiculous. Even when this one started to stray, the author had a way of bringing it back to reality with a plausible explanation. I was kept guessing the entire time. It is one of the books you keep picking up when you have any spare time. 😊

suspenseful
Revisado: 06-06-22
it kept my attention. I know it's hard to make everyone sound different in the book but the reader really needs to work on his female voices. sometimes it was hard to listen to him they were either sounding like a stupid teenager or an old woman with no energy.

Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Made me do a lot of soul searching
Revisado: 05-19-22
This was a book that I could not stop listening to and would back up to make sure I did not miss a single word. Violia did an awesome job of making us feel that we were right there with her. I have always seen her as such a strong woman, only to find out that she deals with the demons from her childhood like much of the world. I have always thought of myself as non-racist, but Violia made me do soul searching. Did I buy into those stereotypes that are portrayed by Hollywood? Even worse, did I agree with them? Being white, I will never know the struggles that she faces on a daily basis because of the color of her skin. She did a great job of giving me a glimpse of what she has had to deal with in her life and career. I know it is only a glimpse and I can never say I understand, but it has made me stop and really look within to ask myself, "does the color of someone's skin really make a difference in how you treat them?" I am sure every person has racist inside them in one way or the other. What matters is just how you let it manifest and grow. Can you objectively look at yourself and make sure that any racist feels you may have that you do not feed it, do not let it grow and never let it manifest. Understand it and try to thwart it.

Historia
From the age of 14, Caitlin was completely controlled, repeatedly raped, provided with alcohol, given drugs, sold and passed on to new gangs over and over again. The majority of her abusers were Pakistani men, who were blatant in their attacks upon her, often collecting her from school or home, to be taken to flats they owned, family homes, or hotels booked for the day, to be horrifically and systematically abused.

Scooby Doo
Revisado: 10-24-21
I liked most of the stories. But the narration made you think you were in a scooby doo episode. It was so hard to think of the characters as being rough and tough ghost hunters, when they sounded like comic characters

Made me Cry
Revisado: 08-15-21
I don't write many reviews, mostly because I am lazy. It is easy to hit the stars and move on. With this book, I felt I needed to take the time. I did not know what to expect and I was not familiar with Michael Elliot. I took a chance and was really glad I did. He is so raw and truthful in his memoirs. I think a lot of people think because you are an owner of a business, that you are successful. That your life is perfect and you are happy. He is real about the ups and downs that he has experienced. My favorite part was near the end about his mother. It made me really think about my childhood and the forgiveness that I need to give so I can see my truth. Thanks for sharing Michael. If you had any doubts about sharing your life, you have made a difference in my life by giving a little piece of you.

Far outside his comfort zone, Paul has a mission: to see if he can be adventurous, fearless, free. In short, to become someone new. Soon after arriving in Italy, he notices a small, scruffy, self-assured dog trotting alongside a canal with the confidence he so desperately wants for himself. This street dog and his instincts for survival lend Paul’s trip a singular purpose.

this book is about nothing. Maybe I'm missing it but I can't get back the 30 minutes I wasted on it. I was hoping you like it because I like Nell Patrick but even that could not get me too finish it.
