Very engaging story, but bad voice characterization

loved the story pace, and kept me interested, BUT the reader's voice characterization just ruined it for me. Several characters were squeaky and overly aged sounding... most unpleasantly... bailed out after chapter twelve.

Too much porn for Peter Pan.

Anti-hero murderer psychopaths, drug dealers, child molesters, mentally weak female protagonists: all unsympathetic characters from Peter Pan [alternate universe?]... Filled with excessive cunnilingus, felatio, and sodomy; that It actually began to become boring and tedious trying to sort out this tale of Machiavellian plots.

Barb! finally some redeeming character!

This was going to be my last read from this series. I was entirely fed up with the spoiled-mouthy-unreasonable hyper feminist Barb character at the end of book 3... now I might just continue to book 5.

This reader can't do the quirky Holly we love.

Stephen King has really gone full lefty liberal here. I could have really enjoyed another Holly story, she has become another great and beloved character by King.

That said, I'm really sick of the Trump supporter stereo-types, as being stupid unmasked anti-vaxers. This simply is not true! Many of the anti-mask/anti-vax community park congregating Karens are very progressive liberals.

Unfortunately, this reader has not listened to Will Patton's version of Holly's quirky speech and behaviors... I will miss Holly.

I will miss Stephen King's wonderful and brilliant stories, as I can no longer tolerate his leftist bigotry. And I am a fiscal conservative with largely liberal social leanings.

4 out 5 stars overall rating? I read several hundred reviews here and most are by far 3 stars or less. I counted 23 four and five star reviews in the first 200 reviews I read... there were 21 three star, and the rest were 1 or 2 stars... I am therefore dubious of the 4 outta 5 average.

Good but not excellent.

It took a great deal of effort to suspend disbelief, since some of the situations and actions of the characters was just unrealistic. But the story runs at a nice pace, with a lot of unexpected twists. Lot's of R rated sexual situations. Lots of narcissistic, sociopath[et]ic characters. Some very annoying smart assy children with ridiculous overindulgent parents. Still it kept my attention and I wanted to find out how it would end. Not a favorite but definitely not disappointed either.

the title of this book should be "Redacted"

After 28 of 40 chapters I gave up on all hope that this book would engage my attention, and force me to finish it. The redactions distracted me from the broader story, and what the interrogator actually achieved, while questioning a high priority detainee.

Needs some technical editing re: firearms

Plot was interesting, but the Story is cheesy. The sound fx and Foley work was distracting. Could not suspend my disbelief and enjoy the story. No female General is going to behave like this with a subordinate CWO. Ammo is held in a magazine not in a clip for the weapons described in the book. And what the hell happened to Rojas? I got no audio for 5 minutes after the soliloquy about the sub!
