Stolen from Cassie Phillips
Revisado: 03-10-25
Three core problems with this book…
1.) Nothing in this book is original. It’s also taken from the original poet Cassie Phillips. Did Cassie create Let Them? No of course not. It’s been around for eons. But neither did Mel. And the idea that she’s trying to trademark these words is laughable
2) It’s constantly contradicting itself. “Don’t enable people let them figure it out. And also let me accept help from others when I’m struggling” “let them isn’t about children… and then proceeds to talk about how she let her daughter with anxiety cry it out”
3) The book is incredibly ableist. “Only you are holding yourself back from a million dollars” says the woman with millionaires as friends. This is written from a privileged, able bodies, white woman’s perspective. And I say this as a privileged white woman (though differently abled) you can’t just say let them when you have a neurological condition causing you to not let them it’s takes waaaay more than just changing your mindset and saying that’s all it takes is incredibly toxic.
Does the book have some good bits? Absolutely. In fact some of the research she talks about is wonderful. But go read the books of the actual researchers. Not a lawyer turned grifter who repackages other’s work without citing her sources.

Historia
Rett Ward knows how to hide. But when Rett wakes up locked in a small depot with no memory of how he got there, he can't hide. Not from the stranger in the next room, nor from the fact there's someone else’s blood on his jumpsuit. Worse, every time he tries to escape, he wakes up right back where he started. Same day, same stranger, same bloodstained jumpsuit. As memories start to surface, Rett realizes the blood on his jumpsuit belongs to someone - or something - banging on the door to get in.

This book is fantastic! The time loop is perfect. Never repeating to the point of boring and always had me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend checking out the PDF of the maps. Really helps immerse you in the whole story.

So different yet so amazing

I ended up loving this book so much I had to go back through and listen again. It's so different than anything I've read before yet still has that great ya feel to it.
