Historia
The first invasion of Earth was beaten back by a coalition of corporate and international military forces and the Chinese army. China has been devastated by the Formic's initial efforts to eradicate Earth life forms and prepare the ground for their own settlement. The Scouring of China struck fear into the other nations of the planet; that fear blossomed into drastic action when scientists determined that the single ship that wreaked such damage was merely a scout ship. There is a mothership out beyond the solar system's Kuiper Belt, and it's heading into the system.

Awesome!
Revisado: 04-21-17
As with all of Card's books, this one was great. It follows seamlessly with the First Formic War trilogy with the same characters and same tone throughout. If anything, this just seems like book 4 of a series of 6. Either way, the story was great. My only complaint is the narrator they have been using for the Bingwin chapters. Just not a good narrator. Slightly annoying, especially the voice he does for Bingwin and other kids. This is true of the whole series, not just this one. Regardless, this book is easily worth a good listen.

I thought I was gonna hate it cuz I am an ex Mormon and thought the story would be really preachy since it is based on the Book of Mormon. In actuality, it is much less preachy than a lot of OSC's other works. I was pleasantly surprised and would rate this in the top half of my favorite books.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

I have not seen the movie. The book was so awesome. The narrator did a great job. The content itself was really interesting. Weir obviously did A LOT of research while writing this book. HIGHLY recommended!!

Historia
In a not-too-distant future that is not quite ours, there has been a major scientific breakthrough. It is a way to open windows into the past, permitting historical researchers to view, but not participate, in the events of the past.
In one of the most powerful and thought-provoking novels of his remarkable career, Orson Scott Card interweaves a compelling portrait of Christopher Columbus with the story of a future scientist who believes she can alter human history from a tragedy of bloodshed and brutality to a world filled with hope and healing.

Great Book! OSC hit this one out of the park!
Revisado: 02-07-15
I am a huge OSC fan and have read almost everything he has ever published. I kept putting off listening to this one because the title of the book made it seem like it would be kind of boring. It was actually really great... right on par with OSC's other works, if not one if his better ones. It is really interesting and I love the speculative alternative histories. Very entertaining and informative. Love the Pastwatch idea. OSC always comes up with really good fantasy and sci fi ideas. 10 out of 10.
