Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Very Entertaining
Revisado: 10-18-23
This story is great! The voice acting is awesome and I found myself wanting to finish it all in one go. Yes some of it isn't super original, but honestly what can be these days. It's well plotted out and keeps you hooked until the end. It wrapped up well and does a great job as a stand alone story without the need for crazy deep exposition or complicated world building. It's just a good entertaining story that's performed well and takes you out of the ugliness of the real world for a bit. Thanks Felicia!

Historia
For the first time since Tessa met Dastien, life is quiet. The evil witch, Luciana, is six glorious feet under, St. Ailbe's is closed due to human trespassers, and people are finally getting used to the fact that supernaturals exist in the world. It seems like the perfect time for a honeymoon. Their trip is turning out to be the honeymoon that fantasies are made of—sunset cruises, long walks on the beach, and every romantic cliché you can imagine. Tessa couldn't be happier. Except that her visions are on the fritz.

Great Story but OMG the Narration!
Revisado: 07-13-23
It was really hard to force myself to finish this one. But I am too invested in the story. This narrator is horrific. Her trying to do the accents and overall style really put a damper on my enjoyment of this book. I really really miss Elizabeth Evans. The story is good but just right at not good enough to overcome the narrator.

Historia
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

Wonderful
Revisado: 02-18-20
This is such a thought provoking and ponderous tale. It leaves the imagination room to soar and wonder and decide.
I've had this short book sitting in my library for over a year and decided today was the perfect day for it.
I cant believe how much such a short tale has affected me. Its beautifully dark and rich in just the right ways.
Dont over look this one.

It's been a year since Eragon departed Alagaësia in search of the perfect home to train a new generation of Dragon Riders. Now, he is struggling with an endless sea of tasks: constructing a vast dragonhold, wrangling with suppliers, guarding dragon eggs, and dealing with belligerent Urgals and haughty elves. Then a vision from the Eldunarí, unexpected visitors, and an exciting Urgal legend offer a much-needed distraction and a new perspective. This volume features three original stories set in Alagaësia, interspersed with scenes from Eragon's own unfolding adventure.

An absolutely perfect companion book to this amazing series. The three stories flow perfectly with the series of main novels and even advance the plot a bit as we hear up for book 5.

Glitches

Great book, but the recording glitched out on two full chapters. Nothing but clicks and static. That is the only reason for 4 stars.

Historia
For young Peony, betrothed to a suitor she has never met, lyrics from The Peony Pavilion mirror her own longings. In the garden of the Chen Family Villa, amid the scent of ginger, green tea, and jasmine, a small theatrical troupe is performing scenes from this epic opera, a live spectacle few females have ever seen. Like the heroine in the drama, Peony is the cloistered daughter of a wealthy family, trapped like a good-luck cricket in a bamboo-and-lacquer cage.

Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

So Negative
Revisado: 03-14-15
My friends and I read this book together and we all agree. It's incredibly negative and put us all in a funky unhappy mood until the book was over. It is a constant barrage of negativity and there is literally no one to feel hopeful about or to root for. I can honestly say that I was extremely relieved when the book ended and I have absolutely no desire to see the movie.
