Historia
Theodora knows she can't keep her five beautiful daughters at home forever - they're too curious, too free spirited, too like their late father. And so, before each girl leaves the small house on the riverside at the foot of Mount Olympus, Theodora makes sure they know they are always welcome to return. A devoted and resilient mother, Theodora has lived through World War II, through the Nazi occupation of Greece, and through her husband's death, and now she endures the twenty-year-long silence of her daughters' absence.

Wonderfully enthralling, but
Revisado: 11-30-17
This story is wonderfully enthralling. All the characters/sisters were interesting and I was anxious to learn more or what would happen next in their lives. The divergent paths they took and the description of them was beautiful. I wish the stories lives would have been told simultaneously instead of all the 1st, then all the 2nd, etc....
However, the author falls slay on her STORY development. By the time I go to the 3rd sister’s story a dawning of hokey “harlequin romanticism” awoke, accompanied by impossible coincidences/circumstances. Namely:
1. Mother and 2 of her daughters lose baby boys at birth
2. Mother and 4 of her daughters are left with only Girl children
3. Three of the sisters lose an older child.
4. Grandmother, Mom, Aunt and 4 of the sisters lose their husbands and/or lovers to death, 2 suicides.
5. All 5 of the girls have tribulations in life simultaneously that lead them back to their family home in rural Greece.
6. All women involved have amazing, fulfilling sex lives with their husbands/boyfriends.
Really, what are the odds of all that? The author has real talent for developing characters and keeping interest, even in a long story. The hokeyness of it made we consider closing the book but it was so well written I forged on. Kuddos yo the author on character development, just use caution with such outlandish stories on subsequent attempts.

Evelyn Gallagher doesn't care much about any of that. She just wants to keep her head down and manage the NSA's camera network and facial recognition program so she can afford private school for her deaf son, Dash.

The performer made his voice sound like Jack Nicholson For Anderson character! This was perfectly how I expected the guy to be, pompous and self-righteous.

IDK....largely unsatisfying
Revisado: 09-17-16
I don't know if I liked this or not. It seemed like some things were unfinished like the reason Emily wanted to die. It was sort of explained but I was like "really???" I'd her relationship with Chris was that close why couldn't she confide in him? Why did he go along with her plans? Why did he not suspect pregnancy? The segue into molestation was weird too. Again, why couldn't she was ell chris about it after it happened? After writing all this, I still don't know if I liked this book.

Historia
Can the love of a lifetime be forever changed by one pink line? With heart, humor, and compassion, Dina Silver’s debut novel of love, loss, and family is certain to stir anyone who relishes a good laugh, can stand a good cry, and, above all, believes in the redemptive power of love. This unique, modern story gives listeners a dual perspective. Sydney, a sweet-tempered, strong-natured college senior, is young, in love with an exceptional man, and unexpectedly pregnant. Faced with a child she never planned for, she is forced to relay this news to her neurotic mother, relinquish her youth, and risk losing the love of her life. Then there’s Grace, her daughter, who believes she is a product of this great love, but grows to realize her existence is not what she assumed and is left with profound and puzzling questions about who she really is.

Hokey and predictable
Revisado: 08-18-16
not a very well thought out story. About the level of junior high writing. Somethings are off to as far as timing like sending text in 2002, edible arrangements in 1991. Sydney and Taylor for girls names that a graduated in 1987.

Historia
Robinson Crusoe, published in 1719, was Defoe’s first novel and survives as his best-known work. Loosely based on a true account of a Scottish sailor—Alexander Selkirk—it is a tale of one man’s fall from grace and progress to redemption. The account of Crusoe’s life, scratched out with rationed indigo ink on a dwindling supply of paper salvaged from the hull of a wrecked ship, speaks eloquently of the tenacity and ingenuity of the human spirit.

Not the literary masterpiece I expected
Revisado: 10-17-15
I know this is supposed to be a literary masterpiece but I found it lacking. Specifically:
- the story is told for several chapters and the retold in the reading of Robinsons journal.
- Crusoe has many advantages for being deserted on an island. Tools, guns, gun powder and ammo that lasts 30+ years(?). He grows corn, rice and barley and has goat milk, cheese?
- there was little depth to the character and after a while I found I didn't even like him.
