Historia
Alice has always wanted to be a writer. Her talent is innate, but her stories remain safe and detached, until a devastating event breaks her heart open, and she creates a stunning debut novel. Her words, in turn, find their way to readers, from a teenager hiding her homelessness, to a free diver pushing himself beyond endurance, an artist furious at the world around her, a bookseller in search of love, a widower rent by grief. Each one is drawn into Alice’s novel; each one discovers something different that alters their perspective, and presents new pathways forward for their lives.

Not a Novel
Revisado: 07-14-23
My fault. I picked this one thinking it was a novel. It’s not. It’s a collection of short stories under a common theme. I’m not fond of short stories. I am always wanting the story teller to go on and finish. It was a frustrating book for me

You won’t be disappointed this is a true grab your seat and hold on for the ride book. The plot twists a and turns all sorts of ways while the characters stay true to form. Should you be able to find that form

Never is an extraordinary novel, full of heroines and villains, false prophets and elite warriors, jaded politicians and opportunistic revolutionaries. It brims with cautionary wisdom for our times, and delivers a visceral, heart-pounding story that transports listeners to the brink of the unimaginable.

Follett’s Worst
Revisado: 12-21-21
This was not a novel but a treatise against nuclear warfare. Most of it boring, with only a few sections that reveal the truly extraordinary talent if Ken Follett. Hopefully next time he will stick to the story and leave the politics out

Straight Stephen King
Revisado: 09-15-21
This is Stephen King with pure realism — okay, maybe a tiny, tiny bit of otherworldliness. It doesn’t matter. The author is still one of the best at character development and plot turns. This book is one of the best reads I’ve had in a long time.

A Total Failure
Revisado: 11-07-19
The narration of this book was so irritating that I couldn’t finish the book. Probably not all the narrator’s fault because she didn’t have a lot to work with. Trite dialog, unbelievable plot line and characters with little redeeming features.

This is a great read. One that you hate to put down. The characters are amazing yet very real with fascinating lives. I love the way the story is presented from two view points and two time periods.

What disappointed you about A God in Ruins?
The characters are very well developed, interesting and real. However there is no plot for them to engage in. No opening explosive incident, no rising action, no climax -- just a series of flashbacks into the lives of a family. Well written, and well performed, but still boring.
