One of my all time favorites!

I listen to this over and over throughout the years.

It's full of humor with various serious subjects that are dealt with incredibly well. None leave you feeling hopeless and there is never any inappropriate content.

This tale makes you think and ask the difficult, important questions--such as, what would I have done in that situation?

There are many possible teaching opportunities here but that doesn't mean it's even a tiny bit boring.

I bought this for a young mom and her two tweens. My description was that it is a rich, funny adventure! It is that and so much more. I can't even imagine reading this in print bc Ed Sala is a master performer and no one can be his dry comedic delivery.

Do not hesitate to buy this for yourself and many of your family and friends. In the ocean of available (clean) fiction available, this is a shining diamond of a find!!

Really Enjoyed Story and Narration!

I was pleasantly surprised by how the story captured my interest. Not being familiar with the author, I didn't know what to expect but I love listening to the narrator so gave it a try.

To begin with, I was just halfway listening bc I was using the narrator's voice to soothe me to sleep. Then the scene of Elsie trying to save the dog captured my dog-heart's attention. From then on I was hooked.

The growth of the main characters was interesting and enjoyable as they struggled with their conviction to not become enslaved by the expectations of their parents and society. They had to 'play the game' to some extent, but tried to remain true to themselves and their dearest friends.

Mary Sarah is one of my favorite narrators and I listen to her at reduced speeds of 8.0 & 8.5. I absolutely love her narration.

I can understand there is much diversity in taste and preferences. I only wish people would be kind when expressing their opinions especially in this venue of historical fiction. Know your preferences and enjoy them without rudely maligning others.

Intriguing, innovative, interesting characters, clean and very interesting! I highly recommend this series. There's something for everyone in this complex fascinating book, even animals!

I care about these characters!

I continue to be blown away and blessed by RM White's writing and research!

This series is different--not your usual formula. I love the characters and love witnessing how they struggle and grow in The Lord.

I couldn't even count how many books & series I have read in my life thus far. I can tell you it's an extremely high number. I read/listen to 5-7 fiction books per week.

Ms. White is my #1 fav fiction author! I have a list of titles/authors for those who ask me. My #1 is The Isles of The Scillies.

Now this series will have to be right next to it. Two #1s. It is so rich with detail that you are right there with this incredible team of people.

This one was very touching and would be difficult at places for someone who has suffered a fresh loss. But it is healing too, bc of how God's perfect nature is applied.

And! I now have another audiobook I will listen to over and over again.

She writes her heroes (male & female) as strong on the outside with soft places on the inside, & with flaws. One of the things I love most is that the men of honor are driven by their code to live with integrity before Holy God.

I think men and women should listen to or read Roseanna M. White. Listening puts me there in a way I don't think would happen by reading it.

Her novels make me want to reach even higher as I live God's Plan of integrity myself. What a beautiful blessing this author is to her 'readers!'

Wanted to like it...

Clearly many loved this story.

I found Dimitri to be self-serving and feel he made stupid decisions. So for me it was tedious.

While I hung in there for hours, it seemed as long as the five years since Dimitri has seen Tatiana at this point.

I don't intend this to be mean. I just cringed when his naive decisions ended as any one could've predicted and he expressed shock.

Love is about devotion but it shouldn't be at any cost of the lives of many others.

I'm glad many had the ability to enjoy this dark tale.

Was glad to listen to this 3rd book in series

I love:

•the character of the 'good guys/gals' in this edition. It's really edifying to me to witness how they work out their flaws or failings-real or imagined.

It always helps me as they recall scripture to apply to the situation.

•I absolutely appreciate being able to trust that their would be no vulgarity or descriptive violence.

I tend to binge read books of my favorite authors and did so in this case.

Number one in this series was my first book of this author. I now Follow her.

The narrator does have excessive mouth sounds but for me, they weren't distracting.

I got used to her sing song narration and came to enjoy it. I actually listen to it when trying to relax and don't want a narration that changes too much in octaves and volume.

The parts I didn't enjoy:

• I felt the couple of tension issues were beleaguered. I grew tired of the constant explanations, brow-beating and ruminating.

• many of the reactions were absurdly extreme and bitter. They may not have felt that way if they were not repetitive and protracted.

Overall, I liked the book. I will listen to it again, but in future, I will fast forward the excessive recriminations and apologies.

Update: Narration improves!

I was bothered by the narrator who seemed to me to be shouting for a bit. But it did get better and in the next book it isn’t an issue.

This series is incredible! It is rich with history and beauty and the characters were like dear friends.

I wholeheartedly agree with what God Girl Story had to say. Well said and accurate. Excellent story and a very good performance!

I found the content and narration about as perfect as could be.
Having a virus and experiencing panic attacks this week, I was desperate for help in addition to prayer. Because my mind couldn’t focus and it kept repeating thoughts.
This was great for me bc there wasn’t anything flashy or distracting about it. Nothing, just pure Words from God—promises and scriptures about His Goodness.
I know and believe these things and having it playing continuously helped calm me. I love this, too, bc when I listen to The Bible while anxious, I have difficulty with the anguish, enemies and war portions. Ordinarily, I hunger for the complete Word of God. During anxiety flares, I just need His help and Goodness flowing into my mind soul and spirit. My deepest gratitude to The Father, the person who compiled this & to the narrator. Unadulterated Truth—Thank You! Now, will you please put together one similar with a female narrator? Caroline Clay, Susannah Terrell or another woman with a beautiful medium low pitched voice that doesn’t flaunt drama? I would love that! I have been looking for a narrator like that for The Bible—a good translation—have found none. Meanwhile, I will be playing this repeatedly! Another bonus is that the narrator simply says the verse address, so it’s helping me with Scripture Memorization. Please, please do more similar to these! I will buy every one!

Finally! An entertaining departure from the usual story line

Especially enjoyable to listen to bc there was a huge reduction in the amount of profanity used! Thank you Mr. Q!!

I’m certain Jim Frangione is an actor with many talents. Yet, to me, he is Chet! Chet is a fictitious character, & a canine at that, but many people would do well to adopt his positive attitude. I absolutely adore the way Mr. Frangione gives life to our quirky, beloved Chet. Yes, there really is all kinds of beauty in this life!

It was nice that Bernie was different in that he wasn’t so angry.

I feel like I missed the joke. Why did Leeta suddenly become Letuh? Just wondering.

I really missed Chet so I’m very thankful this book became available. Without all the anger and unnecessary profanity, it’s a keeper. And, you can take that to the bank, Amigo!
