Historia
What is the word for craving a relationship with the earth, plants, rocks, and stars? What do you call someone who finds their spirit sparked by these relationships; whose concept of the sacred is altered by the scent of jasmine in bloom or the deep indigo of a sky awaiting nightfall? We’re taught that doctors know our bodies and priests know our souls. But what if you’re a person seeking to understand both for yourself without an intermediary? What is the word for these feelings and the person we become when we honor them?

Loved this story of reinvention.
Revisado: 04-01-25
I totally enjoyed Maia Toll's story of finding her true self and her calling in life. I felt like I was right there with her experiencing all her experiences. I also loved all the herbal references at the beginning of each chapter, because I love herbal medicines.

Historia
Ann Humphreys was not aware that she didn’t understand how to feel - something we don’t learn about in school - until she very randomly (through crushing on a hot dude) found the hula-hoop at age 35. Having endured a life-altering loss as a teenager, Ann had learned to handle grief and pain through the time-honored Southern traditions of denial and repression. The hula-hoop broke those old patterns, allowing her to meet a new wave of challenges with a clear mind and an open heart.

Historia
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

Forest Bathing
Revisado: 08-25-21
This is just what we need right now! I live in North Carolina where we have lots of forest and even in my neighborhood we have so many trees that I can get out and walk among to bathe in nature and let go of stress.
