Historia
Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Historia
Ian Millhiser, Vox's Supreme Court correspondent, tells the story of what the six very conservative Republicans Supreme Court justices are likely to do with their power. The Agenda exposes a radically altered Supreme Court whose powers extend far beyond transforming any individual right - its agenda is to shape the very nature of America's government, redefining who gets to have legal rights, who is beyond the reach of the law, and who chooses the people who make our laws.

Historia
As a boy, James Rebanks's grandfather taught him to work the land the old way. Their family farm in England's Lake District hills was part of an ancient agricultural landscape: a patchwork of crops and meadows, of pastures grazed with livestock, and hedgerows teeming with wildlife. And yet, by the time James inherited the farm, it was barely recognizable. The men and women had vanished from the fields; the old stone barns had crumbled; the skies had emptied of birds and their wind-blown song.

Revisado: 09-03-21
I never know what to write on these things, but James Rebanks knowledge of agriculture ( old and modern) and his vision on how to leave the greed obsessed, mindless consumption that is the modern world we live in, is a story worth listening to!

Bill Gates explains why he cares so deeply about climate change and what makes him optimistic that the world can avoid the most dire effects of the climate crisis. Gates says, "We can work on a local, national, and global level to build the technologies, businesses, and industries to avoid the worst impacts of climate change."

Nice to hear a realistic plan!
Revisado: 03-11-21
I've read many books about climate change, many I can describe as "doom and gloom" themed with no realistic plan on how to fight back.
Bill Gate's refreshingly optimistic approach while acknowledging the extensive challenges is quite a welcome addition to this fight.
I work in the airline / logistic industry so I can see the difference between unrealistic immotionally charged "plan" to have corporations and government address climate change and a realistic plan that industry can hopefully get behind.
This book is worth the time and money to listen to as Gates addresses the same subjects but with the understanding of a realistic plan.

Great and tragic story. He obviously listened to all the alarms sounding from epidemiologyist, warning us that our carelessness and disregard towards the natural world would lead us to another pandemic.
Now that COVID-19 and as if this writing over 2 million dead world wide, this is a timely story.

Historia
Just days after the United States decimated Hiroshima and Nagasaki with nuclear bombs, the Japanese surrendered unconditionally. But even before the surrender, the US government and military had begun a secret propaganda and information suppression campaign to hide the devastating nature of these experimental weapons. The cover-up intensified as Occupation forces closed the atomic cities to Allied reporters, preventing leaks about the horrific long-term effects of radiation that would kill thousands during the months after the blast.

Historia
As the ash and chaos from Mount Rainier’s eruption swirled and finally settled, the story of the Greenloop massacre has passed unnoticed, unexamined...until now. The journals of resident Kate Holland, recovered from the town’s bloody wreckage, capture a tale too harrowing - and too earth-shattering in its implications - to be forgotten. In this audiobook, Max Brooks brings Kate’s extraordinary account to light for the first time, faithfully reproducing her words alongside his own extensive investigations into the massacre and the legendary beasts behind it.
