Very Disappointed

I love this author's work. Thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the Gunnie Rose series. I am not finishing this book because the story is set in "Dixie" land. Obviously referring to the American south. The Author depicts southerners as racist, sexist. Just no reason to go there. This seems like a sad attempt at being "Woke". Just not needed as an underlying theme to the story. I tried and tried to get past it and enjoy the book anyway, but I just can't do it. I understand this is fiction, but it seems like a very cheap political shot. I hope the next book skips this tired, sad depiction of the US.

I don't know what the humans are so cranky about. Their enclosures are large, they ingest over 1,000 calories per day, and they're allowed to mate. Plus, they have me: an Autonomous Servile Unit, housed in a mobile/bipedal chassis. I do my job well: keep the humans healthy and happy.

Thoroughly Enjoyable Listen!

Listened to this one on a car trip with my husband. Just the right mix of humor, suspense, sci fi and "human" interaction. Hard to find something we both enjoy so much. Haven't agreed on one this much since The Martian. Loved it. Totally worth a credit!

I read to escape and enjoy. The entire book evolved around rape of character and vengence/recovery. Serious important subject. But not the escape from my world I was looking for.

This is a fun series. Always great to find someone new with lots of books on hand! I have to say Cassandra Campbell, narrartor on the first book, far surpassed Maureen Jones. Maureen has a pleasant voice but a Canadian accent for a series set in Atlanta? And the word is GarAHge not Garaajj. Never have heard such a common word so mangled. Again and again and again in the book. Other than that well worth the credit.

I really tried to like this one. Don't know if it was the narrator's dry delivery and lack of inflection, or the story itself. I rarely give up on a book, but just couldn't feel interested. I Think the narration had a lot to do with it.

nothing like Lora Leigh shifter books. Reading was corny and "breathless" little girl quality to voice was hard to take. Story kept going on and on without going anywhere. Don't waste your time or money on this one.
