Her (very complicated) mother has just passed away. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Penny’s desperate voice makes it impossible to turn her down. Meanwhile, mere blocks from where Bonnie Dahl disappeared live Professors Rodney and Emily Harris. But they are also harboring a shocking, unholy secret.

Another political commentary from a once great writer.
Revisado: 09-11-23
I remember when Stephen King was more interested in writing horror stories. Ahhh, the good ole days. Nowadays he’s more interested in politics and bashing half of the country. This will be the last book that I buy from this has-been.

Women Good, Men Bad.
Revisado: 06-14-22
Not only did I have to sit through multiple hours of She Woman Man Haters club drivel, but then you don’t even find out what happens to the baby. What a waste of time and a credit.

His best in a bit.
Revisado: 02-10-22
When the narrator does the writers voice in ch.85 did he mean to imitate Stephen King?
Anyway… best Stephen King book he’s written in a minute.
I just wish he could cure his Trump Derangement Syndrome, it’s juvenile!

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

I wanted a good read and got Trump Bashing
Revisado: 06-27-19
I read books to escape reality. I’ve stopped reading many authors (inc. Stephen King) because of the political bashing in their books. When will artists and authors learn that they lose half their audience when they bring PARTY politics into their so-called art!

Historia
Sarah and Patrick are happy. But after her mother's death, Sarah spirals into depression and overdoses on sleeping pills. While Sarah claims it was an accident, her teenage children aren't so sure. Patrick decides they all need a fresh start and he knows just the place, since the idyllic family home where he was raised has recently come up for sale. There's only one catch: for the past 15 years, it has become infamous as the "Murder House", standing empty after a family was stabbed to death within its walls.

Somewhat predictable and SLOWWWW
Revisado: 03-22-19
Narrator has a nice voice but I wanted to shove a hot iron in my ears every time she said MOM. There is not an ‘i’ in mom.
Story was too slow to develop, I think the author used the term “I’m sorry” about 600 times and it was predictable.
