Helpful affirmations for relationships
Revisado: 08-22-21
Dr. Jan Yager's 365 Daily Affirmations is filled with positive, uplifting statements to help you navigate through the relationships in your life. Whether you would like to improve your relationship with friends, relatives, or coworkers, repeating these affirmations will bring you a more productive mindset.
I like the narrator, Lindsay Arber, whose voice creates a calming and peaceful atmosphere with her understanding and informative tone. I found her voice to be trustworthy and perfect for the self help genre.
Before reading this book, I had heard of positive affirmations, but had never tried using them. This book has shown me the power of positive thinking to foster healthier relationships in my life. Some of my favorite statements include:
“I am helping my neighbor without expecting anything in return.”
"I accept my loved one unconditionally.”
“I am responsible for my own happiness.”

Historia
In this compelling historical novel by former Associated Press reporter and entertainment writer and book author Fred Yager, Cambodia is still a war-ravaged country, even though the Vietnam War has ended. Esther, a recent college graduate and an American volunteer, is trying to make the lives of Cambodian refugees better. But with more recent news that Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge's plan to create a new revolutionary nation may actually be turning into mass genocide, she decides she must find a way to speak up about these killings to the refugee commissioner.

An honest and compelling historical novel
Revisado: 07-23-21
Fred Yager does a perfect job of mixing Cambodia’s tragic history with a story of hope and perseverance. I love the richness and the depth of the characters, especially Esther, whose ambition to make a change was very relatable. I found myself rooting for Esther as she faced her near impossible mission of bringing attention to the killings - which most nations wanted to ignore. Each of the characters’ backstories, whether they be Vietnam veterans or victims of a genocide made them all the more human.
I don't often read historical fiction but The Asian Queen really opened my eyes to the genre!
Much praise for the narrator Ray Weaver who does a perfect job of creating a suspenseful atmosphere through his reading.
