Historia
As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit. Each team of crawlers is given a task: Find and capture six of these beasts.

The top 10 list is populated. The sponsorship program is open. The difficulty is ramping up. The first three floors were nothing compared to what Carl and Donut now face. The Iron Tangle. An impossibly complicated subway system built out of the world's subterranean railway systems, all combined and then tied together into a knot. Up is down.

I just love the variety of character and personalities. Hard to pick a favorite character, Donut really does make me laugh. I do kind love the slow development of the character and their relationships. I can’t wait to pick up the next book.

Needs a bit more
Revisado: 08-26-23
The story/writing is average. I’ve heard way worse and far better. Still the writing is enjoyable enough to listen to, but still lacking that something that really pulls you in.
The problem I have with the protagonist is his abilities are a bit boring when it comes to combat. Add to that he prefers to be solo I find myself zoning out when he is in combat alone and waiting for other characters to get involved.
I hope the world/characters expand in the next book and the main character has interactions with other characters a lot more.
The protagonist is not interesting enough to carry a story alone and I hope

Historia
Morgan used to be a pretty chill dude, until he got hit by a car, died, and then got sent to another world by a god-not-god. A world where the only way to survive was to level and grow strong enough to survive all the monsters that wanted to eat your face. If he was being completely honest with himself, Morgan quite liked this world, even with all the monsters and the lack of electricity. Sure, there were people that were technically gods, running around and interfering with his life, but who didn't have problems?

Stale
Revisado: 08-17-23
Just like Book 1 this follow up is just lacking overall in its writing. So, I lowered my rating from a 3star to a 2star as I had been hoping the writing would improve.
The story is very basic.
The writing is essentially just the bare bones to explain what is happening and provides no assistance in helping you envision this world.

Historia
Morgan used to be a pretty normal guy. He went to college by day and played online games by night, leading his guild into new conquests - until he got hit by a car and a dude wearing a wet suit appeared in front of him. The man offered him a new chance at life in a world he had created, a world with similar rules to the games Morgan loved to play. There is the promise of great rewards and power, he says, if Morgan manages to complete the Tower of Power.

An average story
Revisado: 08-11-23
I gave the narrator’s performance a 4-star as he did a well enough job with what he had to work with and carried more than his weight. Perhaps with a better script he could have fully blossomed to a 5-star.
The story is average in short. It is very stereotypical with a lack for originality. The jokes & meta-references simply did not land very well. The vocabulary is very bland which will quickly become apparent. The writing simply lacked those descriptive brushstrokes which paint a fantasy world which you can imagine without even thinking.
On the other hand I’ve listened to books that were described very well, but severally lacking in story to the point I just stopped listening for an hour without noticing.
The writing needs work to turn it from a Happy Meal to a 5-star meal. I like it, but don’t love it. I will likely give the next book a try in hopes of the story/writing developing more.

Ups and Downs
Revisado: 06-18-23
I am a big fan of his other series, so I was looking forward to finally getting around to this one and learn more of the great universe he’s created.
Initially, it starts of interesting and I was immediately drawn in. Unfortunately, the character lacks personality. That isn’t always an issue, but when there’s no one else to fill the void it drags.
Unlike his other books there was a lot of reiteration of the same thing about the protagonist. I expect it was to point out the protagonist’s mindset. I don’t have a problem with this when done properly, but in the extreme case when the same thing is repeated multiple times in the same chapter (and the next) it comes off not sure how to describe the main character.
It’s not until about 1/3 in that the story picks up again though I can’t say the same for the protagonist’s personality. I just find him unlikeable and sadly his friends are lacking just as much. I found the enemies who are like him to be a lot more interesting.
Hopefully, in the next book the main character’s personality will grow or at least be filled in by others.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Way too dull
Revisado: 05-28-22
I normally force myself to at least listen to a few hours before I decide to drop a book, but I couldn’t this time.
The writer’s description of the MC’s thoughts is just bland and unrealistic. In addition the writer tends to unnecessarily describe things multiple times. I found myself wanting to skip forward to get on with the story.
I’ve played video games my entire life and the chosen gaming description of this world was just confusing. I didn’t last an hour before I fell asleep. It was disappointing since there are multiple books and I was I was hoping for a long new story.
