If there is magic in our modern lives, it's in the quiet hours of summer nights. This book captures that magic superbly and weaves it into memories that are still with me weeks after reading the book. I remember this night as if I had shared the experience myself with this quirky cast of people who were drawn out into this strange night in this little town. It's a very short book, which was nice. I chose this book after reading his short story, In the Reign of Herod the Fourth, and loving it. I can't wait to read more Millhauser. Icing on the cake; the narrator could not have been more perfect.

I loved this book. I loved all of these stories. So funny. So clever. Even the sad stories left me smiling because they're so well written. The narrator is perfect too, what a bonus. I couldn't recommend it with more enthusiasm.
