Historia
The internet of today is a far cry from its early promise of a decentralized, democratic network of innovation, connection, and freedom. In the past decade, it has fallen almost entirely under the control of a very small group of companies like Apple, Google, and Facebook. In Read Write Own, tech visionary Chris Dixon argues that the dream of an open network for fostering creativity and entrepreneurship doesn’t have to die and can, in fact, be saved with blockchain networks.

Best blockchain book
Revisado: 05-13-24
This is the most comprehensive modern analysis of why blockchain matters. Well beyond just the financial implications, it really addresses how web3 is the future of the Internet

Historia
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: You thought he was a stodgy scientist with funny hair, but Isaacson and Hermann reveal an eloquent, intense, and selfless human being who not only shaped science with his theories, but politics and world events in the 20th century as well. Based on the newly released personal letters of Albert Einstein, Walter Isaacson explores how an imaginative, impertinent patent clerk became the mind reader of the creator of the cosmos.

Thorough, entertaining, informative, inspiring
Revisado: 08-26-18
This was really great and well read. Clearly extremely well researched. Debunks some common myths while giving you a number of great quotes and thoroughly explaining the science. You learn the good and the bad about the man. His in enormous strengths and few weaknesses. Extremely detailed. If you want the short version, there’s a different book by the same author, but I liked to hear it all!

Historia
An examination of a world increasingly defined by disorder and a United States unable to shape the world in its image, from the president of the Council on Foreign Relations. Things fall apart; the center cannot hold. The rules, policies, and institutions that have guided the world since World War II have largely run their course. Respect for sovereignty alone cannot uphold order in an age defined by global challenges from terrorism and the spread of nuclear weapons to climate change and cyberspace. Meanwhile, great power rivalry is returning.

Revisado: 03-21-18
This is the most I’ve learned about foreign policy. Very clear and convincing. Both states facts and also his opinions for how to move forward.

Historia
At once a powerful evocation of his early life in Harlem and a disturbing examination of the consequences of racial injustice to both the individual and the body politic, James Baldwin galvanized the nation in the early days of the civil rights movement with this eloquent manifesto. The Fire Next Time stands as one of the essential works of our literature.

Incredible writing, all too truthful story
Revisado: 11-12-17
Beautiful writing style. I want to find more of his stuff. Sadly, it’s true, his incrimination - well expressed - of (white) America and (white) people. While still retaining hope.

Historia
Killer whales had always been seen as bloodthirsty sea monsters. That all changed when a young killer whale was captured off the west coast of North America and displayed to the public in 1964. Moby Doll - as the whale became known - was an instant celebrity, drawing 20,000 visitors on the one and only day he was exhibited. He died within a few months, but his famous gentleness sparked a worldwide crusade that transformed how people understood and appreciated orcas.

Great book, full of facts and stories
Revisado: 08-18-17
If you love Orcas or want to know about their history with humans, you must read this book. The author digs through all kinds of primary research to give an accurate and balanced portrayal of the early days of orca-human relations. I wish he had let a professional read the book (I could only play it at 1.25x while usually I go for 1.5x when the reader is a pro). I'm more in love with and determined to save the whales than I was before reading.

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?
