Nice little collection.
Revisado: 06-24-24
If your looking for a horror collection with a hidden meaning or that says something about society, this is not it. If your looking for some horror stories that remind you of old slasher movies from the 1980's or have twist endings then this is for you. In a world where a good short story collection is getting harder and harder to find this was a breath of fresh air.

One of my new favorite authors.
Revisado: 03-01-24
This author is one of my new favorites. I've read everything he's writen and intend to keep reading anymore horror stories he puts out. If your tired of the same old blood and gore horror writing, give this a try.
Sure, you have some classic hauntings and ghosts, but there are also some truly unique stories and a lot of them don't end like you'd think they would. He's kind of like R. L. Stine for adults.
The narration is good as well. There's been a lot of virtual voice horror titles, so seeing a new book by this author was a real treat.
Give him a shot, I can't promise you'll like every story, but I'm sure you find something different.

Amazing
Revisado: 10-13-23
This was great. As someone that could never read comics due to a disability. It was good to see the Buffyverse continued. It's good to see Cordelia get the time she deserves and the chance to become a hero. It was also great to see Giles get the chance to retire and live a quiet life.
It's also good to see the new slayer. Endira reminds me of Buffy, but with an innocence and sense of humor that Buffy lost a long time ago.
I hope this series continues. Good things to read are getting harder and harder to find. It's nice to read a story that allows you to escape for a while. It's also good that this story didn't try to shove politics down your throat.
Thanks for producing this and I hope to see more soon.

When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a house in London, he soon discovers some strange and shocking things about his new client. And then some strange things start happening back in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby, a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.

This one is far better than most.
I've waited for a British multi-cast narration of Dracula for a long time. I love this one far more than the previous addition. I will be reading this again.

Historia
Powers of Darkness is an incredible literary discovery. In 1900, Icelandic publisher and writer Valdimar Asmundsson set out to translate Bram Stoker's world-famous 1897 novel Dracula. Called Makt Myrkranna (literally, 'Powers of Darkness'), this Icelandic edition included an original preface written by Stoker himself. Makt Myrkranna was published in Iceland in 1901 but remained undiscovered outside of the country until 1986, when Dracula scholarship was astonished by the discovery of Stoker's preface to the book.

Different take on an old classic
Revisado: 04-29-18
This is definitely a different take on Stoker's novel. Good or bad, I'll leave the individual reader to decide.
For me, although the story was good, it lacked some of the detail and dark seduction of Stoker's original. For example, Lucy's character, renamed, Lucia only serves as Arthur's sick fiance. There is little if any mention of her vampirism.
Really, the only thing the story shares with the original is some plot elements and some names. Jonathan Harker renamed Thomas, is still trapped in Dracula's castle, but his experiences are markedly different from the original. He is still sent to a hospital, but Mina, known as Wilma, ends up there as well because of a broken leg.
If you're looking for a unique take on the original, take a look. If you prefer the original gothic horror novel, give this one a miss.

Good narration, but a little speedy
Revisado: 10-09-17
I won't go over the story because we all know it. Instead, I'm going to take this time to discuss the narrator.
Nick is a great narrator. Each character is well defined and clear.
A personal favorite was Quincy Morris. His female voices with a little high pitched, but they were okay.
However, his reading speed is a little fast in some parts. If you are looking for a good single narrator, give this one a shot.
For four dollars, you definitely aren't being cheated. I know they say you get what you pay for, but in this case this is the exception to that rule.

Historia
The classic story of Dracula, made and remade again and again, is indeed quite the adventure story filled with dark themes and motifs. Concepts such as love, death, possession, and motivation are present throughout this intense novel. Made famous by Bram Stoker in 1897, Dracula has been relegated to a variety of genres, as it does not seem to fit into just one. This is made immediately clear when the plot begins to unfold and we meet the characters as well as the plot twists that lurk around every corner.

Unique narrator
Revisado: 07-06-17
I have to say that David McCallion is a very unique narrator. Each character is given it's own distinct voice. When he does the old woman that owns the inn in the first chapter, you would swear it is an old woman.
I used to think Robert Whitfield's narration of this classic was the best single narrator, but I'm going to have to reevaluate my opinion.
Great job David McCallion, ten stars.

Historia
For a century Bram Stoker's Dracula has reigned supreme as the undisputed masterpiece of horror writing. We have all grown up under the shadow of the elegant Count, at once an attractive, brutal and erotic creature of the night. The gothic tale of Frankenstein and his construction of a human being which runs amok, has, with the help of numerous films, become one of the most vivid horror stories.

Historia
Dracula's Guest and Other Weird Stories is a collection of shorter works on the strange and the macabre, first published in 1914, two years after Stoker's death. The title story "Dracula's Guest" is believed to be the deleted first chapter of Stoker's masterpiece, Dracula. The other nine stories like "The Squaw", "The Judge's House", and "The Burial of the Rats" rank very high among classic tales of horror.

Best one out of the three
Revisado: 03-23-17
There are three versions of this book on this site.
This one, in my opinion, is the best out of the three.
Some of the stories are just okay. Dracula's guest and the judges house were my personal favorites.
The narrator was pretty good. He's not good at accents, but each character has their own unique voice. His reading was also quite energetic and really conveyed the emotions the characters were feeling.
If you're trying to decide which one of the three versions of this book to get, I highly recommend this one.
